Book 1 in the Project Eden series

Not long ago, on the Free to Be Me in the ACB Community book chat call I was pleased and privileged to have as my guest USA Today Bestselling author Brett Battles.

During the call, Brett talked about his books, writing and more.

Before I send you over to enjoy getting to know Brett on a more intimate level, I’d like to share my thoughts on what might become my favorite book series of the year.

Most people know Brett from his hit Johnathon Quin Series. I’ve read and loved that series, but although it totally tripped my Awesome Series Alarm, this book I’m about to review sent my Awesome Series Alarm into the Red-Hot Zone!

First, from Goodreads.

Daniel Ash wakes after midnight to the cry of his daughter. Just a bad dream, he thinks. She’s had them before. Yet he can’t help but worry when she cries out again as he pads down the hallway. Stepping through her doorway, he expects to find her sitting up in bed, frightened by a nightmare.

But the nightmare is his. It’s real. And it’s just beginning…

Something is burning Ash’s daughter alive. Something horrible that is spreading beyond the walls of their home and taking no prisoners.

Thirty seconds later, Ash will discover his daughter isn’t the only one in his family infected, and as his world spins, coming apart at the seams, a team of armed men in biohazard suits bursts into his house.

But these aren’t the good guys.

They haven’t come to save Ash’s family. They’ve come to separate them, to finish what they started.

The problem is Ash refuses to disappear. He wants only one thing: to find those responsible.

Because humanity is on the brink of execution.

And man is pulling the trigger.

My thoughts…

Most times, when you begin a book you get a little back story on characters, plot Etc. Sometimes that’s great and other times it’s a yawner. There are no such things as yawners in this book. The terror and suspense starts from word one and doesn’t let up until the last page.

I can’t remember the last time I read a book which chilled my blood as this one did.

There has always been evil in the heart of Man, but Brett showed a side of Man I hope to never see. I kept thinking, “Could this happen in our own country? Are there truly people out there who are capable of such an abomination?” Of course, we know there are from history’s recorded events, but is it possible there are worse things to come?

I read this book all in one night. I simply couldn’t go to bed until I knew the evil had been vanquished. But as the book ended, I found the horror was only beginning.

If you don’t read another book this year, you must read Sick.

I’ve already begun the next book and cannot wait to be done with my work for the day so I can slip back into the world of terror, suspense and intrigue Brett Battles built.

Will this horrific destruction of the world as we know it be allowed to continue? Does Ash keep his family together? Pick up the book today and find out.

About Brett Battles.

Bestselling author Brett Battles is that kid back in 6th grade who convinces his teacher that, as an assignment, everyone should write a short story that is at least 10 pages long. He received an A- on his project, while another student (name withheld) received an A+. Brett’s not bitter about this, nor does he ever think about the incident. Mostly.

Since that unfortunate injustice, Brett has written over forty novels, a few novellas, and several short stories, and is a USA Today bestselling author.

Now, I’m also pleased and privileged to bring Brett’s entertaining and informative interview to you.
