Wiping Away the Darkness

Earlier today, a friend of mine and I were talking. She’d called me on the phone after learning I’d had to delete my Facebook account. She knew, from me, it was the last straw. I’d done everything possible to resolve the issues, but due to Facebook’s lack of live assistance there was nothing left to do.

Just when we were ready to hang up with one another she suggested I look up someone named Rumi, who shares wonderful quotes. She thought their work would help wipe away the darkness which is evading my life.

Darkness? You say, why, it’s only Facebook.

If it were only that, your question would be a great one. It’s more than that though, this week alone, I’ve had a dead skunk show up outside my living room window, someone has been making obscene phone calls and leaving hideous messages and if that weren’t enough the maintenance department for my apartment complex is a joke. They came on Friday to fix a problem with my tub. They only made it worse. When they came back to “fix” it again, they made it worse still, but I didn’t find this out until I stepped into the shower, only to discover I had no hot water in the tub. I’m still waiting for them to return. So, her wish to wipe away the darkness was a valid one.

This afternoon, I finally sat down to look and see what I could find. Below are just a few, along with the Goodreads link where they’re found. Goodreads has thus far been left alone and is still a place to which I can go.

In the meantime, here are a few which resonated with me…

“Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.”

― Rumi

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

― Rumi

“What you seek is seeking you.”

― Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi

Check out Rumi’s quotes here.

Thanks for reading my blog.
