The image shows a kitchen corner with a white countertop under wooden cabinets. On the counter, from left to right, there is a clear glass jar with a colorful fruit design that holds K-cups, a black paper towel holder standing next to the jar, and a white Keurig coffee maker plugged into an outlet with its mug (a red Santa Claus ceramic cup) placed underneath the brew spout. A stainless‑steel sink is partially visible on the far right.
Happy Holiday Happenings – Then and Now

Moon Phase: Waxing Gibbous
Good morning, everyone.
I hope you’re all well—and happy.
No matter your circumstances, if you are alive and reading this, you have a chance in front of you to do something that makes you genuinely happy.
Care for yourself better than anyone else, for you will be together forever.
Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks of your decisions. Do as you will.
Consider your loved ones—of course. That’s fair.
But your needs, wants, and desires matter too.
As I sip my first cup of brew with Santa—a mug one of my dear friends gave me—I find myself revisiting the Land of Ago.
Because in the Land of Ago, the time is Now.
Here’s something from last Christmas Eve—December 24, 2024.
One year ago, I spent my first Christmas here.
It was Christmas Eve, and though I was slowly learning my way around—and learning who was who—I was still very unsure of myself and my surroundings. I’d been invited to a community dinner downstairs, but everyone was asked to bring a five-dollar gift and some finger food.
Not an unusual request—but one I couldn’t make. Moving and getting settled had cost a lot, and I was still trying to get my feet under me.
Then I had a nasty run-in with a woman whose name I still do not know, while coming back from relieving Blue.
As I stepped off the elevator on my floor, just as the doors were closing, I heard her say,
“She just must take that dog everywhere. Thinks she’s—”
The doors closed.
I started to turn back, but there was a Community Call happening on Zoom—the ACB Community Tree Lighting Ceremony—and I decided I did not want to be late.
When the anger passed, I went inside my apartment—which I loved from moment one—and joined a festivity where I knew I would belong.
There will be such an event again this evening, and all are welcome to attend.
To get the call-in information, simply write to community@acb.org.
Please do not post the call-in information on social media or a public website.
We have our moments. You can’t live in a place this big and active without them.
But this is my heart home.
I’m here for the long run.
Have a happy Christmas.
If you’re celebrating other holidays, I hope you’ll share them with me.
Love and hugs,
Team Blue in VA
