Note: The names below are  characters   from my Tracy Gayle mystery books, Stiff Competition/Miss America and the upcoming one, Ratings Game

Tell us a little about yourself?

Name’s Danny Tide. I’m a rock musician.  Lead singer and guitarist with the band, Tidalwave.   (He chuckles) That’s my band. Our records have gone gold, platinum and double platinum.

Tell us more about your band and can you start from the beginning?

Mmm, okay, I put Tidalwave together in the mid-1970s (he winks). It’s always been 5 guys, including myself. The original band members were Tony Miller on drums, Greg Butler on bass, Dave Mattson Keyboards and Jim Crown on second lead guitar.  Greg and Dave left the band. Les Carson replaced Dave, but he died a couple of years ago and his son Mike took over. Mike’s a great player and a great kid. He’s married to my daughter, Liz.  (He smiles). Our bass player is Ricky Trapp.  Honestly, I can’t remember exactly how many albums we’ve released or Grammy’s won, but, after 30 plus years in the business, the number’s pretty high.

Where do you live?

I’m a true California boy. Have a house in L.A.

Is there a special person in your life?

Yeah, my lady Sam Spade, Tracy Gayle. She’s the love of my life and I intend to make her a permanent part of my future, my daughter Liz and granddaughter Danielle.

Where did you meet Tracy?

Tracy covered that pretty well, but I’ll give a shorter version. I hired her to find out who set my tour bus on fire.

What do you feel are your strengths/weaknesses?

I’m a damn good guitarist and singer.

I’m lousy at marriage, a 3 time loser.    The odd thing is, I like being married.

I think I do well with people.  I feel comfortable onstage, talking, playing or singing

Does a busy musician have time to take a break once in a while? What are you hobbies? What do you do in leisure?

True, there’s never enough time to do everything. We’re either on tour performing or in the studio rehearsing a new tune or recording.  But music is my life, my job, as well as, my relaxation at times. Just to sit by myself and pick at the guitar.

I try to spend time in the gym.  I swim in the pool on my property. I also love jogging.

I also enjoy cooking

What is your favorite food?

Well, I’m a bit of a health nut.  I try to eat nutritiously. And yeah, I like the stuff that’s good for you, fruits and vegetables.   Sometimes I do eat a burger or pizza and enjoy it, but I don’t make a habit of it. Danny Tide’s going to stay in great shape and good health for as long as possible, and play and sing. If I had too much body fat and cholesterol, I might keel over onstage and the fans would not like that.

What irritates you more than anything else?

That’s easy. When   I make a mistake on the guitar, or forget a word in a song I’ve been singing for years or anything that has to do with the show that doesn’t seem right

What positive, upbeat advice would you give others”?

I should say something about marriage. I’m definitely no  expert, but with 3 screw ups under my belt, I hope I’ve learned  something. As I see it, the 2 most important things in a successful marriage are communication and time spent between the partners. I never had much of the second one, free time. With Tracy as my wife, I’ll try super hard to make time to spend with her.

About the Book

America’s favorite rock band, Tidalwave, is playing the Miss America pageant. Band leader Danny Tide is emceeing the event.  All is going according to schedule. The judges have picked the 10 semi–finalists. Suddenly, everything comes to a halt. Miss New Jersey is missing. Nobody knows what happened to her or where she is. Danny calls his longtime PI friend, Tracy Gayle, and asks her to come down to Atlantic City to help figure things out. In need of her best friend for personal support and eager to get to another case, Tracy agrees. There’s an all–out search of the hotels on the boardwalk. They find Miss New Jersey, but it’s not good. Her kidnapping leads to another assault and murder. The big star and the lady PI work together on this one, so that the Miss America pageant can continue as usual.

    1. I’m currently reading Jo’s Bright Side of Darkness on audible but when I’m done with it I’ll read yours.

I’ve a goal of reading at least one of each my client’s books this year.

For those who have multiple books I’ll read their latest ones, and once I’ve read all I’ll go back and read the books of those who have more than one.

I think it’s the best way for me to get to know the client and how best to promote.
