What It Means To Be 60

, By Trish Hubschman

February 2024

I’ll be turning 60

In a couple weeks.

To be perfectly honest,

It gives me the creeps.

What does that mean?

Are people saying I’m old?

I don’t feel that way.

Let the truth be told.

My hair is still dark,

with some streaks of gray.

It looks real cool

And I’ll keep it that way.

I’ve grown up.

This is true.

I’m proud of who I’ve become

I’m more mature and wiser too.

Sixty is just a number, right?

Getting older is not so bad.

Not accepting life’s changes

Is what’s so very sad.

Two weeks to go. I like the number 60 better than 59. It’s around number. I’m happier than I’ve been in the past 45 years.

  2. I’ll be 57 on my birthday but these times in my life are much better than past ones have been in many ways.
