Whacky Woden’s Day! Coffeepot Calamity! and Backyard Beasties! #Journal #WordPressWednesday

After putting in an extremely late night readying the Talk to Tell It To The World Marketing Book and Business Bonanza Live and In Person podcast for upload and then seeing it through until it was live, I expected I would sleep in this morning. I mean I was up until nearly 1 in the morning, but no! My body has been waking at 5 or 6 and sometimes earlier for so many years, Blink! 6:30 rolled round and I was up, tapped in Tuned up and Turned on!

So, up I got and a shower I did take.

Even though Campbell is no longer here to keep me straight I’m trying my best to keep a routine going. Someday I shall have a new doggy to love and in the meantime I do have a life to live and a business to run.

With those thoughts in mind, I slipped into my clothes and headed for the kitchen and that all important first cup of brew, and then…

I’m not sure what the spirits who live in my house were up to this day but I’m certain they were conspiring. It is quite possible Campbell had joined them.

First, as I made my coffee I began to hear some sort of clanging noise. Thinking it was the trash truck and knowing I must get the trash and recycling bins to the street I slapped the coffee ground basket into place, poured the water in and headed off to do my morning duties.

Soon the trash and recycling were all where they belonged, bins lined up at the curb like little soldiers waiting for morning inspection and I was headed back to the house to reward myself with a hot cup of coffee for a job well-done.

As soon as I went through the door I knew something was afoot.

“Hmmm?” I sniffed. “Why don’t I smell coffee?”

Hurrying to the pot, thinking I’d not turned it on I began to laugh as my fingers felt my folly.

“Oh! You silly girl! You forgot to put the coffee grounds in. You’ve made a lovely cup of hot water.”

Laughing to myself, I bustled about filling the coffee ground basket with wonderfully smelling fresh grounds put the water back in the tank, turned it on and then went round the house opening window shades singing…

“Let the sunshine in.

Let the sunshine in.

Open up your heart and let the sunshine in.

Smilers never lose, and frowners never win. So, open up your heart and let the sunshine in.

Even when the coffee’s late, let that sunshine in.”

Finally the coffeepot stood quiet, all sound of gurgling and dripping had stopped, and I was more than ready for that much-needed cup!

Hurrying to the pot I reached out and…

“Nooooo! What in all hell?”

What to my wandering fingers did appear?

A cup of sludge and coffee ground smears.

Carefully so as not to burn myself I lifted out the basket and found it filled with water and grounds.

Somehow the bloody thing had become clogged and nothing came out but the noisome mess I found in the bottom of my cup. With a grimace and gritted teeth I grumbled…

“Let the sunshine in.

Let the sunshine in.

Open up your heart and let the sunshine in.

Even when the coffeepot can’t perk let the sunshine…

Oh! Shut! Up! Blast and botheration! I want my coffee!

Let the sunshine in my…!”

I dumped the sludge out of my cup and thoroughly rinsed it then filled it with fresh water for the pot.

I cleaned out the grounds basket and refilled it with fresh grounds.

I cleaned up the nasty slime that had gathered where the cup sat, and once again I refilled the water tank in the back.

Finally with a flourish I pressed the button and declared…

“Make or I’ll take a hammer to you! So help me I shall!

I stood and waited.

I counted every drop.

And finally…

Success! The cup was full, I added cream, and all was once again set to right!

Moral of the story?

Have your coffee first, and let the stupid trash and recycling wait!

What was the clanging noise I heard?

I’ve no flipping clue.

Well, until next time, this is Patty who is still waiting on UPS so she can go to visit her dad saying…

May Harmony find you, and when it does please bring some to me.

Thanks for reading, and blessid be.

  1. Please excuse me for laughing, but I assure you it was not in fun, but in commiseration!

    1. I do not mind laughter at all.

I wrote it to be funny.

And, as I’m typing part two is up!

Glad you enjoyed and that you wrote to say you did.

      Food For Thought

We all are the Light, automatically. So we really don’t have to go too much further than that. We all have a Light within us – it is the Soul; it is that spark of God, of the Divine, that activates our consciousness.
