Waiting on the Darkness

Waiting on the darkness
waiting for sleep to come
my mind is filled with monsters
I know will visit soon
voices from long ago
how stupid can you be
you’re the biggest screw up ever
why in the world did I end up with you
I beg
I plead
I’ll do better
please don’t hurt me again
I’m trying to learn
I know you’re right
I’ll do better
let me try again
the shout
the negation
the pain
blood
scream
fall
darkness closes in
no
I changed my mind
I don’t want to go there again
wake
early morning
voices fade away
soon the sun will shine
chase the monsters away again
they’ll be back
it’s sure
they will never leave me in peace
get ye off the skin of this world
go to hell
you pervert
you abuser
go to hell
you nasty
filthy
sinful
thing
go to hell
and stay there this time
you are done here
your time with me
it’s at an end
I will stand strong
I will lean on all those who love me
no one loves you
he insists
that’s not true
but I feel the seed of doubt planted again
it’s not good to be held prisoner
prisoner of a past long gone
how can I make his voice leave my mind
how can I be normal again
when people of stature
come to my door
they never stay long
too messed up
I’m broken
they know
and away they run
he’s right
I cry silently
into the night
a friend
ha
he laughs
as the darkness closes in
no one wants to know you
you’re nothing
I hold my hands over my ears
hold my head shut
I don’t want to hear him
I’ll believe
oh please
let it fade
let the sunshine in
rays touch me
touch my skin
waiting for the darkness
waiting for the darkness to come
I know
I know it will be
I know it will be back again

The Darkness Returns – My Abuser’s Words Confirmed

the darkness returned today
while the sun was obscured by clouds
I wasn’t paying careful attention
sent the wrong information out
out it did go
where
places where no one should know
tears fall like rain
back where I started again
thoughts never meant to be spoken
my heart is crushed
not just simply broken
the darkness came today
with my horror
with my shame
with my foolish self known
nothing to do
just hope for a gentle hand
I pray for forgiveness
I pray for compassion
for kindness
understanding
please
I can explain if allowed
I cry allowed
stand by the water as it rushes by
hold my head over and cry
my tears join the creek below
how I wish I could go
with the geese and the ducks
cause right now
things kinda suck
my abuser’s words confirmed
mindless
stupid
ignorant
his question
why would anyone want you
I mean look
today you’ve proved
just how dumb you can be
just look and see
see the damage you cause
you’re not worth this trouble

he’ll pop you like a bubble
I hope I live to see
please
don’t hurt me too badly
