Time Doesn’t Fly

Time is relentless and relative as it always goes forward, never backward and always at the same pace. It does not fly or march or actually go anywhere. It just seems to appear to move faster or slower to us depending on our attention spans and concentration on its passage.

When the kids in the car say repeatedly, “Are we there yet?” and then on the way home say, “Wow, we’re here already.” Time seems to have slowed or flown by, but has not changed a bit from its path. So to, for the writer, artist or musician, time seems to fly exponentially when engrossed in the creation of a work.

Some day we will no longer be trapped by time for the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:11,
I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning, nor favor to the skillful; for time and chance overtake them all (New American Standard Bible).
