*Author/Editor’s Note*
I put this together on the fly. I’ve no reason or rhyme.
I woke up this morning, with everyone on my mind, and thought, “It’s Time for a What’s Up in Patty’s Worlds, with a tiny bit more!”
So, here, you, go!
Enjoy!
What’s Up in Patty’s Worlds with Team Blue Investigations
Hello, everyone. I hope you’re well.
Unfortunately, I am not. I have gone nearly back to the beginning with this sickness. I have an appointment with my doctor on the seventh of Jan. Honestly, with the holidays and transportation companies closed, that is the earliest I could be seen without going to the ER.
I am not in a life-threatening situation. I feel like crumbs leftover from a cracker box, that a giant stepped on, and I am very tired of being sick.
Each time I start recovering, I have no choice but to do things needing done. Laundry, housework, dog walking, Etc.
Blue has been understanding but he needs a walk in the worst way. I have not worked him other than around the property since I went to the bakery on the 24th. People see me out relieving him and they do not understand what a walk means to Blue. He wants to get into his harness and get the hell out of Dodge. He even tolerated my Friend coming yesterday and not getting to go out with her. He has been a real trooper. We did laundry on Monday and got back out amongst everyone yesterday and there were a lot of things happening, so he did get a bit of engaging work but still, I’ll be glad to get back to normal working status.
I’d love to walk to the bakery today. It’s not happening. An Iced Macchiato would be a treat. But it will be there later. I’ve had a lot of treats in Dec. I have done little walking. I have gained a little weight. Probably no more than three to five pounds but now that I have been watching my weight and being aware of my body in a more complete way, I feel it. I will get rid of it during the first few weeks in Jan you can be sure.
As soon as I’m able to get up a good head of steam Blue and I will be doing our walk again.
Things happen and I am not going to stress them.
The cookies and homemade goodies I was gifted this year were worth it, and the Christmas Crack Candy, OMG! That’s nothing but Fat Crack! Nummi! Addictive! Dangerous! ⚠️⚠️⚠️
I saved a small piece until I could stand it no more. At 2 AM I awoke and said, “The time is now! It is gone!
I have a few store-bought chocolate chip cookies left, and then the sweets are gone, and I am not getting anymore.
I wanted to make my Taco soup/dip (It can be used both ways) but I’m not up to it. It is complicated and time-consuming, and worth the work but I am not able.
I’m going to pop some sausage balls in after a while. They’re good to have around when you need a quick bite. I don’t just make those at Christmas.
I like meatballs of all sorts.
They’re having a New Year party downstairs tonight. I do not think I’m able to attend. This makes me sad because I missed Christmas with them too. I love my community here and we do a lot of neat things together but giving everyone the crud for new year seems ugly. I was out with them yesterday so I suppose if I wear my mask it would be ok. We’ll see. I’m feeling fairly bad today.
There are other happier reasons for staying home too. Here is one of the most important.

I can certainly slip downstairs if I am able and still be at this event because I can wear my Meta Glasses, so there’s no conflict.
If I stay home, it will be because I feel like I need the rest.
While I’ve been alternating between celebrating and sickness, my sponsoring members keep right on doing their wonderful work. Here are a few things we have missed.
Enjoy!

Smorgasbord Posts from My Archives 2025 – #Memoir #Waterford #Ireland #History – The Colour of Life – The Rosary 1955 by Geoff Cronin
Posted on December 27, 2025
My father-in-law, Geoff Cronin was a raconteur with a encyclopedic memory spanning his 93 years. He sadly died in 2017 but not before he had been persuaded to commit these memories of his childhood and young adulthood in Waterford in the 1920s to the 1940s.
The books are now out of print, but I know he would love to know that his stories are still being enjoyed, and so I am repeating the original series of his books. I hope those who have already read these stories will enjoy again and that new readers will discover the wonderful colour of life in Ireland nearly 100 years ago.
As we come to the end of the year I am sharing the last two stories today and on Monday…. but I will begin the stories from another of Geoff’s book in the New Year.

Last but not least, something I’m excited about!
News Nuggets: Pathways with Patty – Community Member Merl Johnson Joins Us to Talk About the Art of Wood Turning Friday January 9 2 PM Eastern.
Bridging the great chasm which separates the disAbled from the Non-disAbled by finding the necessary tools and information building blocks.
A Call of Brainstorming Together.
This week, Community Member Merl Johnson joins us to talk about the art of wood turning.
To join the call, watch your ACB Community schedule or write to: community@acb.org for the call in information. All are welcome.
This ends the Writer’s Grapevine New Year Edition. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
For now, I’m off to have coffee.
Do a little cooking too.
Yes, I’m sick, but I gotta eat too.
Ham and pintos on the stove smells rich and delightful.
Brings holiday memories flooding back.
Some good.
Some bad.
Some happy.
Few all sad.
Always a nugget of joy to be had,
had if one looked.
If one looked, and did not go crooked, while they looked.
Happiness and Joy are a choice we make.
How hard is it? How many muscles does it take?
How many muscles to create a smile?
“It takes twelve muscles for your basic smile.
A full-on grin takes a while.
Forty-eight muscles it might take.
But isn’t a smile worth the effort?
Can we try one on? Just the twelve if you please?
No need to go all out for your first time.
Just be happy for a little while please?
May Harmony Find Us All. Blessid Be.

December 31, 2025Well, for something put together on the fly, this was pretty darn good, in fact better, I think, than my spontaneous presentation during the Sixth Annual ACB Community-a-Thon about the Wyoming Council of the blind. A fellow board member originally planned to make the presentation but had last-minute technical difficulties, giving me just enough time to snatch our mission statement from our website and make a few notes before zooming in — Dear Abbie to the rescue again! Oh, well, they don’t call me Dear Abbie for nothing. Anyway, thanks, Patty, as always, for sharing my blog post. I hope you feel better soon.
