Dave Light
A Little personal History.
Dave is a Kingsport, Tennessee native. The younger son of Glen and Ruby Light, he graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and attended college with the hopes of being a science teacher. Life, however had other plans for him. Dave was drafted into the United States Army, went through basic training, got married and was assigned to the Army’s helicopter pilot training facility at Fort Rucker in south Alabama. Talk about culture shock!! He and Jennifer made their life together 500 miles away from either side of the family and quickly became their own support system. After the military stint Dave and Jennifer made their way to Troy Alabama and the Holiday Inn. – He learned that people are not at their best when they are eating, are sleepy or wanting to have sex. – Their younger daughter was 6 weeks old before he saw her awake.
The Lights finally wound up back in east Tennessee with Dave eventually going to work for the City of Kingsport. Several promotions and twenty-five years later he retired as Assistant To The City Manager in November 0f 2007. – Yes there are lots of stories but it was truly an honor to serve my home town. But we aren’t finished. The folks with Holston Valley Broadcasting called and offered him a job as a radio host for their weekday morning show known as AM Tri-Cities. If you want to know what is happening in the region, you will probably hear about it from Dave. We are on six stations and the internet with approximately 50,000 listeners at any time.
Yes, he is still having fun.
