Sundown Sensation: Reading The Path of a Christian Witch

Sundown Sensation: Reading The Path of a Christian Witch

We were celebrating something greater than ourselves.
In this book, “Path of the Christian Witch” she writes, in the third grade we sat in circle with the teacher who read us stories of Abraham and in the fourth grade we learned of the Ten Commandments and how to get along with one another. She writes about that being when her Spirit began being awakened.
And she wrote the above first line, “we were celebrating something greater than ourselves.” She wrote that when speaking of being in assembly with her classmates during daily worship.
That is what I feel whenever I engage in any sort of worship.
When I was in the third grade my teacher taught us the 23 psalm. That changed my life. My entire perspective about life changed with that one teaching.
I think the reason this stands out so vividly in my mind is because at the same time my mother was quite ill and in and out of the hospital and I remember taking a large amount of comfort from that teaching.
Back then we were taught the word. We were not taught anyone’s opinion. We were guided gently toward readings we could comprehend and if we could formulate a question we got a straight up answer.
I remember this same teacher answering many questions with a question thus causing me to go and reread the passage I was seeking her answer for. She made me figure out what it meant to me in my life.
That’s study and that’s teaching and that’s what I want.
I don’t want politics, and I don’t want to be changed. I want to add to my knowledge, growth, and spirit.
In these days of horrific happenings, I can think of no better way to spend my time.
This is one of many books I’m reading.
I do not know why I cannot enjoy the entire journey.

At the same time of remembering studying with teachers at school, I also remember as I grew older not wishing to go anymore for various reasons and being excused to the library. I do not remember anyone making us feel badly. I do remember being in the study and two people left and when we asked why the teacher simply said, “They study a different way than we do in this way we’re different but that’s what makes us all who we are.
Nothing bad. Nothing wrong, again a straight up answer.
That’s what I am stating now.
