Falling in Love With You

©2023 by Abbie Johnson Taylor

After a two-year long-distance relationship,

shocked to discover you wanted more than friendship

and unsure if I wanted the same,

I didn’t rush in.

But after a while, I took your hand, stayed with you.

Like a river flowing to an ocean, we were meant to be together.

All too soon, you left this world,

your river running dry.

But my love is as endless as the tide.

  1. Thank you, Patty, for publishing my poem here today. Please stay tuned for a Tuesday Treasures reblog. Have a wonderful day, everybody!

    1. Hi, Abbie. You’re welcome.
That poem always makes me smile and have tears in my eyes at once.
It is lovely, and it is obvious the love you all had for one another.
I’ve a friend who’s husband died some time back. I mean it’s been a few years, and she is still deeply in love with him and says there is never to be another for her.
When I think of the two of you, Bill and you that is, I think of the song, my heart will go on.
