Smiles and Blue’s Birthday 🎉🐾

This morning, Abbie’s smiling bright in her corner of the world. 🌞

She also asked, “What made you smile this week?”

Well, I’ll admit—I’m having a hard time narrowing it down. These days, I smile more than ever in my life. But this week? It was celebrating Chief Seeing Eye® Dog Blue’s seventh birthday. 🐾🎂

My friend Cordelia helped me put in a rather large Walmart order, and of course we included two new squeaky toys for Blue. When the order arrived, he inspected every single bag as it was emptied. Naturally, I’d hidden the toy bag behind my chair while he was in his crate, waiting for just the right moment.

Once the groceries were tucked away, I sank into my chair with a long sigh. That’s when Blue came and leaned against my legs, letting out a low, moaning sigh of disappointment. He knew I was holding out on him. With a little flourish, I reached behind me and pulled out the toys. 🎁

Oh, the look on his face! Blue can smile, too—I always know when he does by the way his ears perk just so. This time, he was grinning from ear to ear, barely able to keep his sit. Honestly, he was bouncing like an excited kid at a birthday party. 🐶

And me? Oh, how I smiled. 😄
