EDITOR’S WELCOME TO HEALTH WORLD…
The COVID-19 pandemic took a mighty toll on me and others. Once I realized the impact it had, I knew I must try and help those reading The Writer’s Grapevine recover as much as I could, so I began to look for articles which would be useful to us all.
The Smorgasbord Café Blog Magazine has been a great resource of health columns for me over the past few years. I reached out to its author Sally Cronin to see if she might consider becoming a regular contributor to Health World.
She wrote back to say that while she was flattered that I would consider her for my magazine, she just didn’t have the time to do it.
At first, I was disappointed, then inspiration struck.
I wrote back to her and requested permission to use partial columns from her new series with “read more” links leading to the posts on her blog included and she wrote back with her blessing.
I strongly encourage you to make use of the “read more” link provided, visit her blog, and read the rest of each one.
My thanks to Sally for the use of her entertaining and informative work.
Today’s article is one I very much hope you’ll take the time to read all the way through.
After I’m finished here, I think I’ll go have a refrigerator clean fest.

Recently I covered the dangers of salmonella, despite the government and food safety experts telling us that it is now safe to eat under cooked eggs:
Food Safety – #Lysteria – You cannot see it but it sees you..the perfect host!
Also Lysteria has been in the UK headlines a number of times, including the appalling cover up about the percentage of prepared sandwiches, supplied to hospitals and care homes that contain Listeria.. and it is only the fact that three patients died and other are seriously ill that it has been uncovered.
In the papers: Health bosses ignore warnings about contaminated sandwiches
■ Health bosses have been accused of repeatedly ignoring warnings over the deadly risks of contaminated sandwiches.
■ Three patients have died and another three remain seriously ill after eating sandwiches infected with listeria – a deadly foodborne bacteria – at two hospitals in the North West.
■ But research by the Government’s own health agency had previously warned that one in 40 hospital and care home sandwiches may be contaminated.
I am sure that if you are a regular reader of my health blogs you already know that I am not an advocate for industrialised foods. Some of our food is processed before it reaches the end user and some of that does involve making sure that it is safe to consume.. such as pasturised milk. But as in the case of eggs last week, some of those that find themselves into the food chain and into packaged food does not necessarily come from regulated sources.

September 12, 2023Hi Sally, you’re welcome. It seems to me they were worried about whether I’d contracted this during my pregnancy with my daughter. It turned out that’s not what it was but a little scary for me during the waiting on lab results.
I’m most definitely clearing out my frig today.
