About the Book
Lady Laya MoonWalker is a well respected author and magazine owner and a high priestess in the magickal community. After a drawn-out battle with the forces of dark magik, she has come into her own. She lives and works on Planet Korponious, where she is the owner and creator of an Interplanetary Magazine called “Blended Lives Chronicles.” Her mission is to blend the lines of race, creed, and disability that separate so many and to elevate the recognition of the training and ability of Service Animals of all kinds to a new level. She has just been accepted into the Blended Lives Federation and now hopes to continue her work in a way like nothing known to her before.
Laya has created allot of wreckage along the way through her dark journey into the light, and now she wishes to set this to right. She has just received her best break ever. Frank Prince, the CEO of The Blended Lives Learning Center, has invited her to the Celtic New Year Convention and Witches Ball as a reporter to write a story on the progress of The Blended Lives Planetary Federation. She will be their guest speaker at the opening ceremonies.
When Laya arrives at the Celtic Convention, she finds herself face to face with an old and dear friend, Blended Lives Learning Center Instructor and member of the Order of the Night, Derrick Gibbous. As they begin to connect, causing old sparks to reignite, they are tossed into a nasty battle from which not everyone will escape. People are not as they seem, and not everyone supports the side for which they appear to work.
As their love for one another grows, so does the battle. Despite everything, Laya and Derrick are determined to see their work to unite beings of all kinds succeed.

Chapter Three
The Decision
Derrick’s foot falls echoed off the old stone walls as he slipped through the portal and made his way down the cold, long, dimly lit corridor.
He was quickly reminded of why it had been given the name of “The Corridor of Concerns.”
As he walked, he thought of the night ahead, and all it entailed. He knew there was no room for mistakes. He found himself worried about what the Order would think of his going to her as he had without first consulting them. It was well known the trouble she’d caused, and he wanted them to be willing to forgive it. He hoped they would listen when he explained how she’d been enchanted and terrorized by her mate. Jack had been relentless in his control, and with his abuse. She’d not only been forced to support him when he’d been found guilty of his crimes but had been enchanted into believing he was innocent as well.
Jack had been controlling, manipulative, and in the end, violent toward her. He used her own powers against her, combining them with the darkest of magicks. He allowed her to learn from incorrect sources and made certain she had destroyed what had been a healthy, loving friendship between the two of them by her own hand.
Jack had managed to break her spirit, and the effects of that were not completely resolved.
In the end, she’d gone to the other side and answered the Judge’s questions in a private interrogation which had helped the prosecution’s case. He’d been imprisoned for months before she’d even begun to realize the truth. When she’d finally broken free, the damage Jack Richards had done to her had been complete. Not to mention how he, Derrick Gibbous, second in command of the Order of the Night, who ironically, was supposed to protect those in need when under threat of another, had treated her; it was a wonder she’d been able to heal at all.
It had taken years for her to become as well as she could currently be, and that was a delicate thing at times. Now, he hoped they would listen, because he loved her and wanted to be with her.
For years he’d had to remain silent. No matter how hard she’d tried to reach him, no matter how horrible he’d been toward her, she’d never once wavered in her love for him.
He thought, For the love of the Gods, she begged him to forgive her when it was he who should be on bended knee, begging her.
When he’d been with Angelina, he could only wonder what it would be like to have someone love him that way.
Being with Laya in that way so quickly, without time for either to prepare had, in his mind, gone fairly well. However, now that he’d seen, touched, and held her again, he knew he could not walk away. He knew in his heart, no matter the decisions made here in this secret meeting, he would choose the love of High Priestess Lady Laya MoonWalker, above all. He knew well the dangers of going against the Order, but what other choice was there? To be separated from her again wasn’t an option. He no longer wanted to send her away hurt and alone. He knew doing that would destroy both of them this time.
He remembered the deliciousness of those fine lingering drops of blood on her lips, the fiery hurt-filled tears, the feel of her body shaking as sob after sob of pent-up pain came pouring out. He relished the tenderness of her cheek, hot with the blood and tears of her emotion, and the amazing warmth of love when he’d finally been allowed to hold her in his arms.
He cursed himself. Why, Derrick?
He raged at himself. Why? You should’ve just left her alone!

Derrick and Laya Speak to the People
November 15, 2061—Evening Under the Full Moon of the Mother Goddess
While Derrick, Daniel and Wolverine made last-minute preparations with the video and streaming equipment, Randall and Laya went over key points of her speech.
They’d all been surprised when she’d stepped from the circle as soon as it was released and stated, “Okay. It’s time for me and Derrick to speak to the people. We must not wait one moment more.”
She’d asked Derrick to call Daniel from his guard post at the perimeter of the property so he could help them rig a sound and video system. When Derrick had suggested they simply use a communicator Laya replied, “Our communicators are good, but I want this to go as well as it can. We must make a firm statement.”
“We’re ready when you are, Laya.” Daniel called from the sound table he’d hastily put together in the corner.
Wolverine stood, video camera in hand, ready to press the live button as soon as Laya gave the go ahead.
Laya positioned herself beside Derrick and King in front of the Flag of the Blended Lives Planetary Federation, with its White Skeleton Key and Crescent Moon. This image, along with a backdrop of the blood red sky, dotted with blazing silver stars, created a presence which showed the Blended Lives Federation would give no quarter.
Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, Laya said, “On my mark of 3. 1… 2… 3…”
“Hello fellow Blended Lives Federation members, Korponious Casimian, New and Old Earth citizens everywhere.
“I’ve come here to assure you that the Order and the Blended Lives Federation still stands. Yes, it’s true we’re at war. Yes, it’s true somehow, though I can hardly believe it’s so. The Clear Blood Clan, old and new, currently has control of Korponious.
“I, however, am still your High Priestess. This means my rule stands above all.
“I decree all of the Clear Blood Clan, both the old and the new so-called Purified military, are there against my wishes. They are not welcome, and I am sending soldiers to remove them and restore order.
“In the meantime, I urge you. Please do not stand against them on your own. You cannot do it without the Federation army behind you, and we’re still fighting our way through.
“I understand Raymond Noel is head of the troops currently occupying the Burgs. Which is to say, the capital of Korponious. Although, at this time, it’s being reported he’s at Outpost 69. Which is, as you know, located on an asteroid belt at the outskirts of Casimian Proper Atmosphere.
“According to the message we received through our negotiators, Mister Noel claims no one will be forced to take the Cleansing, and no matter your choice, you will have your immediate needs taken care of.
“I, as your High Priestess, can only hope he speaks true. I can assure you our troops are coming. We have the most powerful Magickal beings at the front of the battle as we can provide.
Stepping forward to speak, Derrick stated, “I, Derrick Gibbous, Blood Son of Randall Jennings, and Second in Command of the Order, say to you, Raymond Noel, hear me well. If you are not ready to release all Korponious back to The Blended Lives Planetary Federation and vacate Outpost 69, then you will be perceived as acting in a manner of a commander of troops at war and will be engaged as such from here forward.
“Please make immediate contact with our security forces to make your position legally known. I also make this demand of the original Clear Blood Clan to state its position, so there is no mistake. If you’d like to defect and gain sanctuary within the Order, there are specific stations along the border for that purpose. However, let it be known, anyone attempting to come into the Order under false pretenses will be dealt with in an immediate and harsh manner. There is no room for that behavior now.
“I, Derrick Gibbous, blood son of Randle Jennings, and second in command of the Order decree that I and all those who stand with me in the name of the Order, will bring peace back to our planetary federation once and for all. We will also welcome any newcomers who would like to ally their planets with us.”
Laya took his hand and together they stated, “As it has been spoken, so let it be done. Blessid Be.”

Current or Possible Reality
Just when Marcus thought the relentless buzzing in his skull would drive him mad, it stopped.
Derrick stood in front of him, smiling.
“You have passed the second portion of your testing,” Derrick said. “You have proven yourself worthy of Laya. She waits for you in the wedding chamber. Go, Marcus—finish the bonding. Take her as you have never done before. Administer the remainder of her proving before the birth. Claim her. Elevate her into her rightful place and let the plan unfold. It is done.”
Something inside Marcus snapped. Fury, pure and ancient, erupted from the depths of his being. He rose to his full height—towering, terrible, radiant with power.
“You dare,” Marcus roared, “to defile what the Creator Himself has declared sacred? You dare to stain her golden light with your corruption?”
His eyes burned like molten silver. “I am Marcus Weathers, and I love Laya MoonWalker. I, Marcus Weathers, will complete the final bonding. I, Marcus Weathers, take my rightful place beside the Priestess. You, Derrick Gibbous—are no more!”
With a roar that shook the walls, Marcus drew a silver arrow from his belt and drove it deep into Derrick’s heart. As the metal pierced flesh, a long hiss of escaping air filled the chamber. The sound grew unbearably loud—then fell silent. Derrick’s form dissolved, spirit first, then body, until nothing remained but a faint shimmer fading into the void.
