The Club’s next read is a collection of short stories and poetry. “Two Plus Four Equals One: Celebrating the Partnerships of People with Disabilities and Their Assistance Dogs” is a compelling anthology written by our friend and fellow Guiding Eyes graduate, Kathy Nimmer. The forward is composed by long-time Guiding Eyes Director of Training, Kathy Zubrycki.

About the Book:
Two Plus Four Equals One: Celebrating the Partnerships of People with Disabilities and Their Assistance Dogs, is Kathy’s second book. It is a collection of stories and poems featuring service dogs of all types and their handlers, trainers, and puppy raisers. The book is available on Bookshare, BARD, and in hard copy on Amazon.

About Kathy:
Kathy Nimmer taught high school English for three decades. She is also a motivational speaker, writer, and mentor. She is totally blind and is currently working with her fifth guide dog, Tate, in Indiana.
Kathy is also the winner of the 2026 Helen Keller Achievement Award, presented in late April, in recognition of her lifelong commitment to serving others and spreading encouragement and hope. She enjoys reading, making chainmail jewelry, following a variety of sports, and spending time with family and friends.
