RECOGNITION FOR A JOB WELL DONE
BY: PATTY L. FLETCHER
Good afternoon all.
I hope this message finds everyone doing well.
I’d like to take a moment to recognize all my author clients for a job well-done. To say thanks to those who are going the extra mile to not only see that their submissions are well-written, and ready to post when they’re received by me but for coming onto the blog and commenting, engaging with me and other readers, thus taking part in the promotional process of your work.
Whether you’re a traditionally published author or an indie published author makes no difference, the work you’re doing now that your books have been written and put out into the world to be enjoyed is hard, and at times unforgiving.
There are times when you cannot see whether it is helping you or not. There are times when you must wonder if anything, you’re doing is making a difference at all and I know from personal experience that this is the hardest part of being a writer.
First and foremost, we must write because it is what we love. We must do it whether we make a dime’s worth of money or get one 5-star review.
However, it is always a great thing when we see our efforts pay off in some way and that is why this afternoon, I’m taking the time to write to you.
To those of you who are new to this portion of the writing world, who haven’t had experience on platforms such as WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, and the like who are working hard to learn what you need to know, making obvious effort to come out of your comfort zone, face your fears and show yourselves ready or not in this new and at times overwhelming world I say…
GOOD FOR YOU!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
There are many who won’t do this. They’re busy making excuses why they can’t, being argumentative and quickly becoming their own worst enemy.
Years ago, when I decided I wanted to write I did some of that. I allowed my insecurities to get the better of me and believe me when I say it has been a hard fight out of the muck, I created for myself.
To those who have stood by me while I got myself together, thus becoming the person you see today I say thank you. I’m truly appreciative of those who weren’t afraid to tell me the truth when my work needed improvement. I would’ve never made it where I am had people not stood up to me and my whiny, manipulative, temperamental ways and I’m so glad they were willing to help shape me into a hard-working person who is no longer afraid to roll their sleeves up work harder than ever before and make something of themselves.
Now, I find myself able to pay that kind of hard work forward to those who have the potential to do great things as a writer that are willing to do the hard work and I’m so proud to have all of you along with me, if I were a peacock, I’d spread out my tailfeathers and sing.
In this ever-growing publishing world there is a ton of competition and though we all write because we love it there isn’t one of us doing it that wouldn’t like to see our names on that ever-coveted bestseller’s list.
Can we get there?
I don’t know.
Do we have a chance?
Yes. But, only if we’re ready to work harder, push ourselves further, and do more than we’ve ever done before.
So, happy writing everyone, keep up that awesome work and make it great. Remember only you, can make it that way.
