Question for you

If a company lists on their website specific services, and a person hires them to provide specific services, just because that person does not allow them to provide all the services that they offer, does that mean that the person who hired them who paid them to perform certain specific listed services is not a client? I have learned today that a company I do business with is dealing with people this honestly. I have given these people 24 hours to make good on their behavior or I will expose them. I have saved a draft of an email that they wrote to me as well as other similar emails and I have looked up the Better Business Bureau information and downloaded the form to report dissed honest business practices. From 24 hours to today this company has to make good on their services and their behavior or so help me God I will report them I am very tired of blind people being taken advantage of and I will no longer stand for it.

I have looked the other way for nearly 2 years. I have tried over and over again to justify their behavior. I can no longer stomach it. There is too much dishonesty in this world. There are too many people taking advantage of less fortunate less educated people and I am no longer going to stand for it. There are too many people taking advantage of disabled persons. There are too many people taking advantage there aren’t too many dishonest people in this world. I have decided that I will make a stand this time. Someone I care about very much is being hurt by these people and I will not stand for it. I will not.

    Uh oh! Hurricane Patty’s gathering steam! Honestly, it depends on the contract. If the client hired the company to provide certain services and not others, the company is obligated to provide only the services agreed to in the contract and paid for by the client or some other entity on the client’s behalf. Unfortunately, there is often fine print many disabled clients agree to without understanding when it comes to training centers and other service providers they deal with. Many centers are not menu-based, which means if people sign up, they have to agree to all required classes. The Colorado Center for the Blind, for instance, is one such Center. A client has to agree to braille, computer, mobility, independent living, and other such classes, even if he or she already has adequate skills in some of those areas. That’s one reason I was never interested in attending. So the individual case depends a lot on what exactly has been signed between the two parties.

    1. Well, the website is extremely explicit, and the email this person sent to me, was also very explicit, and yes, I am gathering steam. I have stood by, and watch these people take it vantage of blind and disabled persons until I am just absolutely puking with it. I cannot stand it another moment. I have tried to justify it. I have tried to do business with them. I simply cannot stand this another moment. It is simply going to far this time. They have been given 24 hours. I mean what I say, and I say what I mean.

    2. Like you, it would depend on a lot of things, and especially exactly what the contract states. The person might want to consider obtaining legal assistance.

      1. Well, what I have decided to do is this. I’m going to watch and wait. I’m also going to pray. I’m going to pray very diligently, these people have on far too many occasions taken advantage of disabled persons. They are dishonest, and very greedy. There has to be some kind of justice, however, at the person in question’s request, that is to say the client who is being treated dishonorably I am not going to say anything else at the present time. However, it is in my opinion, that someone should report them to the Better Business Bureau and that I am going to do I am also going to speak to the adult protection agency, I think it is very high time that an authority of some kind investigated these people. Their primary client base is disabled and they are taking advantage in a high manner. I have three emails now from three separate people who are very unhappy and have been treated very badly. I have said it before, and I will say it again. There are three things which will never remain hidden for long. The sun The moon, and the truth.

  2. Patty your message reminds me of a friend of mine who would quote, “The truth will stand when the world’s on fire”, and how true.

    1. I’ve heard that too. I’m just so upset. I’m just so tired of greed and dishonesty and the almighty dollar ruling the world. It seems as though no one cares for anyone anymore. It’s all about me Mimi and I and what I can get. It has nothing to do with caring for the other person. Or even being honest. I don’t work that way and I hate that so many others do. This affected someone who is very close to me and it just really pressed all my buttons into the red zone.

  3. Go for it, Patty, I only wish I knew what site you are talking about.

    1. First off, when I am back on to a computer I will write you privately. Because as a blind author, I feel you must know. Secondly, it is a real dilemma for me. Part of me wants to stand on top of a mountain, and shout their names for all the world to know. Another part knows that this would be not only damaging to me, but other clients that I have that are directly related to them. I have to consider all things. The hard part here is knowing exactly what the right thing is to do. For now, I have elected to report this to authorities who may be able to do things I cannot. It indeed needs to be investigated at first, I thought the problem was simply between me and them. Then, I thought maybe just a couple isolated incidents is. Now, I have five people other than myself who have been adversely affected by this type of behavior. Where does it stop? That’s the worry. And, how many people are being poorly treated who aren’t aware of it because they are sheltered, or otherwise not aware of other things that go on in the publishing World, and having never worked with other people don’t know that they are being treated unfairly. Overcharged, and not being given all proper information. It’s just a really bad spot to be in. I have sat back and overlooked so many things. This time, it hit me very close to home. This time, it is a dear friend who is being treated shabbily. And I simply cannot sit back and do nothing.

    I agree with this whole heartedly. If you see something say something . We have to stand up for what we know is right when we see unjust things happening we have to speak up and speak out against them.

    1. Turned it over to the Better Business Bureau this morning. They, like me, see huge red flags.
