JANUARY 15, 2021.
MOON PHASE WAXING CRESCENT.
‘I make plans and the Universe laughs.’
Patty L. Fletcher.
‘The time is, 7:05 AM’. The clock announced as my half-asleep fingers fumbled the talk button. “What?” I exclaimed, as I worked to free myself from the cocoon of warmth I’d created in the middle of my bed.
‘Meow!’ Prince Edward insisted from his perch atop the chest of drawers by the window. ‘Meow! About time you were getting up mistress.’
‘Oh! Hush!’ I grumbled, as I sat up onto the side of the bed, trying desperately to peal open my eyes and figure out how on earth I’d possibly manage to be ready to go in an hour. ‘You’ve got kibble. You’re just going to have to eat that until I can get up from here.’
‘Meow! Humph! Meow! Humph!’ Came the protest from Prince Edward.
‘How on earth did I manage to end up with another four-footed companion who believes it is my every waking moment’s duty to serve it?’ I muttered as I made my way into the bathroom for my morning necessary and routine of washing face, brushing teeth and hair and lotion session. Standing in front of the sink, massaging lotion onto my moisture starved skin, I realized that I’d not run the laundry in the washing machine and so there-for had nothing to put on that was fit to go out in and because I’d over slept, which is something I never do, there was just no way I was going to be ready to go when the Door to Door van got here to pick me up at 8:30. ‘Damn this COVID! Damn this not having a working dog and damn this stupid rain and…’ I broke off before allowing myself to go into a complete tirade. I knew if I gave into that, my entire day would be ruined. I also knew that though my appointment with my life coach and best friend ever in the world Christy could be rescheduled Prince Edward would eat the last of his canned food this morning, and his shipment wasn’t to arrive until next week. Since the “Friend” who had told me they’d go and get some canned food for him yesterday hadn’t shown or called to say they weren’t coming, I’d planned to go and get it after leaving Life Bridge. Now I wasn’t going out, that option was off the table.
‘Take the bus from that stop you fought so hard for.’ You say. Well, yes, that is an option, except for me in my current circumstance it isn’t. You see, when Campbell was alive and still working, that was something I could do with great ease. But now I no longer have a working dog, handling that trip from the bus shelter in the middle of the parking area to the store’s entrance is nearly impossible for me as a cane traveler. There’s nothing to tell me where I am. It’s all open space and the one time I tried doing it, I veered into traffic and had it not been for the kindness of the bus driver I’d have probably been run over.
So, there I was, in my ratty sweatpants, standing in front of the sink, cream in hand feeling totally sorry for myself. I knew I could get someone to bring cat food and I knew that next week, I could reschedule my appointment and everything needing to get done would be so, but I hated this new person that needed help with things I’d once done without thought who had invaded my life.
Later, as I sat drinking what had turned out to be the best cup of coffee I’d made all week, which was the first of many blessings of the day, I found the following offering in my inbox and it helped to reset my thought process.
I realized I could bemoan my situation forever, or I could do what I am able and let the rest go for another day.
For now, this is Patty who decrees…
‘Sooner or later, the COVID restrictions for someone traveling from Tennessee to New Jersey will be lifted and I shall have another working dog. For the moment, I’m off to see what I can do to help someone else tell the world about their book, blog or business and be glad I can.
May Harmony find You and Blessid may You Be!’
Raising Our Consciousness |
From the peace at our center, we gain distance from our emotions to connect to intuitive wisdom. Albert Einstein said, "No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it. We must learn to see the world anew." A Nobel Prize winner, Albert Einstein’s scientific theories transformed the world’s understanding of the universe and its workings, so we can believe that these words come from his personal experience and helped him to explore both science and life itself. He offered us an example of what can be learned by looking deeply into nature to reach a deeper understanding of all life and by following our ideas to their logical conclusions in our minds before acting upon them in the world. When we apply this quote to our lives, we can see that we cannot create abundance by staying in a consciousness of poverty, nor can we gain a sense of power in our lives while identifying ourselves as a victim. Situations begun from anger or fear can have little chance of reaching a state of peace and trust unless someone involved can conceive of that possibility and act upon it. We need to find ways to step outside of our limited understanding in order to seek a bigger picture. One way to do this is to shift our perspective to see the situation from another’s point of view and ideally the perspective of all others involved. Even if we can’t truly know another’s motivations, by imagining what they might be, we open ourselves up to numerous possibilities and an expanded vision. This alone can shift our feelings of anger to compassion and the desire for a positive solution for all involved. Once we have opened our mind to greater possibilities, we can connect to our higher self for inspired solutions. From the peace at our center, we gain distance from our emotions to connect to intuitive wisdom that offers us understanding of the underlying causes and the inspiration needed to guide our steps in a new direction. Albert Einstein showed us the impact that can be made when we raise our consciousness and allow ourselves to imagine the possibilities. |
