May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Being a guide dog handler with disAbilities other than blindness can be challenging for all concerned.
I’ve just finished what was for me a week filled with mixed emotions.
I’ve felt joy, pride, fear, shame, sadness and even self-loathing.
People are always asking me “If you could rid yourself of any of your disAbilities which would it be?
Answer.
“My bipolar disorder and whatever causes my short term memory loss.”
I hate it and I hate myself for having it.
I am getting better at not doing so but there are days when I wish I could get out of my body and stay out.
But Blue and I are a team. I made him a promise. I will keep my promise.
I also promised myself and those who keep trying to help me that I wouldn’t give up.
Today, I’m tired, I’m self-examining and that is making it desperately hard to catch up all the emails Etc.
What would I like to be doing?
Taking a nap.
I’d already taken a slight tumble during training this week. Then, on the morning after everything was over, I caught my toe on the leg of the bed frame threw myself smack into the floor and my toe may not be broken but it’s doing a grand facsimile.
Anyhow, here is what has come from my jumbled mind.

The Three of Pentacles shows a young stonemason working with his tools on a portion of a cathedral. In front of him two architects hold the plans for the design. The soaring ceilings and intricate engravings signify that both parties are skilled in their respective crafts. The stonemason appears to be discussing his progress so far with the architects, and even though he is less experienced, they value his opinion and specialist knowledge. Their body language insinuates that this young man is an essential contributor to the cathedral’s completion and the architects want to make sure that everyone is on the same page.

so it’s always about the team when you get paws on the street
even with all the anxiety it makes those like me
feel blissful and whole
so please don’t forget the true goal

status is great
