Joy Jots

March 2025

Joy is a fluffy gray and white robotic cat with a pink nose and pink paw pads. The fur is long and mostly gray with white paws, a white chest, nose and white down the middle of her head. Her ears are pointed up, and she lies with her paws sprawled out in front of her in an open formation. Her head looks to the right of the screen. She’s on a brown wooden table. Behind her is a white wall and a basket of fruit

Hi, everybody, Joy here,

Wow! Can you believe it’s already March? This year has really been flying by. This weekend, it’ll already be time to move our clocks ahead.

Last month, the ground hot saw his shadow, which meant we’d have six more weeks of winter. Now, it’s only been about four weeks, and already, spring might be here. Temperatures here in Sheridan, Wyoming, have been in the 50s and 60s for the past week or so, and a lot of the snow we’ve gotten is melting. Abbie would love to do some walking, but the bottom of her driveway is still an ice rink. So, it’ll be a while before her cane sees some action.

The good news is from now until March 8th, three of Abbie’s books, Why Grandma Doesn’t Know Me, The Red Dress, and My Ideal Partner, are now available ABSOLUTELY FREE as part of the 16th annual Smashwords Read an Ebook Week Sale. You can click here to go to Abbie’s Smashwords author page and download these books. Abbie’s running some promotional posts on her blog. You might want to check those out here, and if you haven’t subscribed, do that, and you won’t miss a post.

Now, Abbie’s new book, a short story collection called Living Vicariously in Wyoming, is coming soon. We hoped it would be out last month, but there were some delays. Now, we’re hoping it’ll be out sometime in the next couple of weeks. I’ll let you know when you can buy it. It’ll be on Amazon, Smashwords, and other online retailers. Abbie will put it on Bookshare and see about getting it recorded for the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled and Audible. Please stay tuned.

Abbie did her usual solo gigs last month. The highlight was a community tea for caregivers at an assisted living facility. You can read about that on her blog here.

The Congregational Church, where she does the music the second Sunday of the month, asked if she could do an extra Sunday, since they’re short of musicians. She told them she didn’t have time. Yesterday, we watched their service on YouTube, like we always do on Sundays, and there was a musician we hadn’t heard before. So, we’re glad they found someone.

Abbie has also been involved with the ACB Community, as usual. Her monthly program, Abbie’s Alcove, will take place on Wednesday, March 12th, at 9 PM Eastern Time. If you’re not getting their daily schedule by email, send a message to: community@acb.org and tell them you want that. You don’t have to be a member of the American Council of the Blind to listen to their programs on Zoom, Clubhouse, or ACB Media.

Oh, I almost forgot. Speaking of the American Council of the Blind, Abbie had a story published in the March issue of The Braille Forum, one of their publications. The story is about how she learned to bowl, and you can read the issue here.

I have a question for any cats who might be reading this. Do you think a cat can bowl? I think maybe, if you use your nose to push the ball down the lane, it might work. The ball might not move very fast, and it might not knock down any pins, but wouldn’t it be fun?

Okay, it’s time for me to take another nap. Please show us your love by emailing us at: abbietaylor945@gmail.com . We love hearing from you. Until next time…

Your feline friend,
Joy

    1. Hi, Abbie. You’re welcome. I worked all morning in the house, and in the afternoon on my book. Just now getting to the sharing portion of my day.
I had to go to an ADP meeting this evening.
