Journey Out of the “Big C” Day One of Recovery

Hello, everyone.
I hope you’re doing well.
The following is a description of my procedure and what I’ve been experiencing over the last 24 hours or so.
I’ve been asked a bunch of questions. So, to the best of my ability and with the help of Chat GPT. Here’s the latest update.
My hysteroscopy was performed on Thursday morning, March 26, 2026. I was under general anesthesia for approximately twenty-five to thirty minutes. Because I am considered a high-risk patient, an airway was established during the procedure.
The doctor removed a nine-inch growth and a two-inch polyp. Although the procedure is minimally invasive and required no external incisions, it was still internal surgery.
The pain medication used made me very sick to my stomach. I was sent home without anti-nausea medication called in to the pharmacy. I attempted to contact the doctor’s office late Thursday afternoon before they closed, but there was an issue with their new phone system and my call did not go through.
I was sick throughout Thursday and into Friday morning. By the time the doctor returned my call, the worst had passed. I still filled the anti-nausea prescription, and I am glad I did, as some nausea has returned.
Today is day one of recovery. I am sore from the surgery and from being sick. I am tired. At times, I feel a bit disoriented. I have found myself emotional, crying for Blue, who is in foster care until I am well enough to have him home again. I have also had some strange and, at times, disturbing dreams.
Overall, considering everything, I am feeling okay. I expect to feel better as time goes on.
For now, I am relaxing with a cold soda and my favorite comfort read, Wolves of the Calla by Stephen King.
