HOT SOUP ON A CHILLI DAY

HOT SOUP ON A CHILLI DAY

There’s nothing like making a large pot of soup on a chilly day. When the autumn winds are moaning, and the rains fall nothing makes you feel better than to come in from a vigorous walk with your big wiggly Waggly dog to a warm house smelling of soup.
All day long I have cleaned. Moving furniture, throwing out unused items which are of no good to anyone and trying my best to fight off a cold that wishes to knock me down and step on me for good measure.
Finally, around 3 I decided this would not do and into the kitchen I flew.
Out came the big pot, and a bag of potatoes to start.
Soon they were scrubbed, sliced, remaining in their skin, and into the pot they did go.
Water to cover, then a look into the frig and cupboard.
A little of this and a lot of that and before too long a wonderful pot of soup was born.
Now, here I sit with it simmering on the stove, my beautiful Bubba snoring contentedly on his bed in the corner under the window and no happier could I be.
Of course, it would be wonderful if I had a beer or glass of wine, and someone to share all this wonderful blessing with but one can’t have everything, and I do have a good book to keep me company.
So, as we near sunset on this autumn Freya’s Day I pray…
Thank you for the setting sun.
Thank you now this day is done, all our needs, wants, and desires, they’re met.
Thank you for what we have and for what we have not yet.
Thank you when the day is new, we will still be we and you will still be you.
Light our path and guide our way.
Give us what to do and say.
So mote it be!
Blessid be!
Amen.

  1. Okay, Miss Patty, it appears we are having the same kind of day you and I…and as you will soon learn from my most recent post, I wish to feature special friends on my Friday posts…are you game? Shall I send you a few questions, or would you like to have a real conversation? Stay cozy my darling friend, and enjoy your Friday evening…Hugs galore to you!

    1. Send a few questions.

I’m so stuffy and hoarse today talking is most out of the question.

      😊

      Love to you.

  2. The soup sounds delicious. If I could apparate to Kingsport, I’d love to share it with you. I hope you can beat that oncoming cold.

    1. I’m working on that cold and sharing a bowl of soup and book with you would be lovely.
