As I was creating the beginning of this, it occurred to me not everyone knows just what boxing day is. I was not sure, so I looked it up.
Here’s what Mage my Chat GPT assistant and I came up with. (Yes, I named it.) 😜
What Is Boxing Day? 🎁❄️
Boxing Day is observed on December 26 in several countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Traditionally, it originated as a day when employers and those of means gave “Christmas boxes” containing money, goods, or leftovers to servants, workers, and people in need as a gesture of gratitude and charity following Christmas Day. 🤍
Over time, Boxing Day has evolved. Today it is commonly recognized as a public holiday marked by family gatherings, sporting events, charitable giving, and—especially in modern times—major retail sales. While its practices have changed, the heart of Boxing Day remains rooted in generosity, appreciation, and care for others. ✨

Thank you, Mage, for that report. 😊

We’ve nearly come to the end of our Holly Jolly Holidays Extravaganza Newsletter, but before we go, Kaila has another important announcement and then Blue and I will share our holiday with you.
Here is Coach Kaila with all the news.
The Art of Arrival: Rewiring Your Brain for Joy
When: Wednesdays in January 2026 Time: 2:00 PM Eastern Where: Zoom
We often start the New Year with a long list of resolutions, chasing new goals and striving for “more.” But what if the key to happiness isn’t getting what you want, but learning how to truly enjoy what you already have?
Join Coach Kaila for a special 4-part Creative Journey series, “The Art of Arrival.” Throughout January, we will move away from the exhausting cycle of “seeking” and step into the restorative practice of “savoring.” Using simple neuroscience, somatic tools, and community connection, we will rewire our brains to move from a state of constant chasing to a state of deep contentment.
Weekly Schedule
Week 1: The Science of Satisfaction (January 7) We kick off the year by debunking the myth that “more is better.” You will learn the fascinating neuroscience behind why we always want the next thing (the Dopamine loop) and how to switch on the brain chemicals that allow us to feel satisfied right now.
Week 2: The Capacity for Joy (January 14) Have you Ever felt like things are going too well? This week, we explore the “Upper Limit Problem.” We will practice somatic exercises to stretch our nervous system’s ability to hold onto joy and safety without self-sabotaging.
Week 3: Worthy Without Working (January 21) In a world that prizes productivity, it can feel dangerous to simply “be.” We will tackle the “Inner Taskmaster” and explore how to uncouple your self-worth from your To-Do list, finding peace in the moments between tasks.
Week 4: The Glimmer Hunter (January 28) We conclude the series by turning our contentment into an active practice. You will learn how to spot “Glimmers”—micro-moments of safety and awe—and how to program your brain to find magic in the mundane.

I honestly believe that what you are about to read came about because of the work I have been doing with Kaila in her one-on-one coaching packet of services.
Tailored to my exact need, over the last year, I’ve put into practice so much of what I’ve learned it has literally changed my life.
Was it easy? No. Did it sometimes step on my toes? Yes. I got over it. Checked myself and realized the reason it stepped on my toes was because it was the truth.
Now, my holiday tale.
First, from Blue.
From the Desk of Chief Seeing Eye® Dog Blue and Team Blue Investigations
Hello, all you two-legged peeps and your furry four-legged friends.
The holidays this year have been filled with…
Tasty Tidbits throughout the day. Not too many my boy, Mother does say.
A knock at the door. Presents for me! I don’t even have to put them underneath the tree.
My momma is so good to me. Now, look! A new squeaky doughnut ring for me.
Mother is happy. Even though she’s been sick. She says it’s all about keeping her mind on the right track. Get rid of the negativity. Replace it with cheer. Just look at all the blessings we have this year.
Speaking of blessings, I’ve got a treat for you. My momma did this and it’s so good, I’m sharing it here with you.
Take-it-away-Mother! (I always wanted to say that!) 💬🦮🎤
Musical Holiday Healing
By Patty L. Fletcher
December 2025
Hi, everyone.
I hope you’re all well.
I’d like to say a proper thank you to all of you who listened to my Karaoke Debut on Saturday December 13th. I used to sing a lot and am out of practice.
There is a story behind my music, and I’d like to take the time to share it here.
When I was a child in the fourth grade I began singing in public by request. I participated in my school’s music program, and my third-grade teacher was retiring, and they asked me to sing for it. I sang You Light Up My Life.
After that, I began singing in earnest. I took voice lessons, joined every singing group I could find to join in school, church or anywhere there was singing.
In the eighth grade I sang a solo at an opening of a bank downtown with my special singing group from my middle school. My parents were approached by one of the investors and wanted to fund my musical talent. They wanted to record me and sign me with their group. My parents refused. They would not even meet with them. My mother fought with my father over it. She wanted it for me. But I heard him say in what I now know was a fit of fear and anger “She’s not even that good. It will only end badly.”
After that I quit. I never sang in public again. Never took another voice lesson. I threw myself into writing and playing the flute and never looked back.
In the early 2000s my EX broke my jaw, and the flute too went away.
Soon music began to be something I only did in private because all my musical memories brought pain. The loss of it all was too great. I simply couldn’t handle it.
The song I sang last evening is one my mother sang to me all the time.
I was listening to Christmas music one morning, during the ACB Presents the Daily Schedule call. I heard all the excitement about the Karaoke event the night before, the song Little Old Trains by Glen Campbell came on and I heard myself asking about how to get involved.
WTH? I asked myself later. What are you thinking? You’re going to make a complete fool of yourself.” But Cindy would not be denied and I knew it. So, I did not bother backing out.
I practiced, I cried, I talked to mom who has been gone since 2001. She died at only 57 years old, and I knew in my heart she would tell me to do it. If she were alive, she and Cindy Hollis would be fast friends. Cindy has the same drive as my mother.
I recorded the song, and sent it in. I didn’t think it was too bad, although I felt I was a tad bit flat.
The biggest thing happened on Friday. I was texting my dad and he asked, “What are you doing?” For reasons I don’t know, I told him I was practicing for Karaoke. I explained what we did and how I felt.
My father called me later about my hearing aid consult and we talked again about my singing. My father is eighty-two and has begun sharing things with me. He said, “I have regretted many times over the years not allowing you to pursue your music. I never supported you in your writing either. I was always fearful of the horror stories you hear about people being taken advantage of Etc. I simply felt I was protecting you. I now know better.”
I told my father that I forgave him. I did not realize how upset I was about the whole thing. This was a moment of healing for me, and a moment of drawing myself and my father closer together.
I’ll be back at Karaoke. I texted Cindy this morning, and said, “I’d like to inform you that I have karaoke bug bites all over me.”
I must ask your forgiveness for the flat notes, and sharp angles. I’m going to start doing my voice exercises again, and I am going to start singing again. Blue loves when I sing. He comes and las on me. He smiles and lifts his ears, and I sing to him a lot.
Here is the song I sang last night.
When I was a very little girl, my mother and I used to get out all her Christmas records, and bake and clean and do all sorts of fun things While my sisters were in school being the youngest I was privileged to have time at home with mom alone, and this song was one of our favorites. She used to hold me in her lap and brush my hair and sing it to me.
Now, I sing it to blue.
Of course, mom always said little girl, but when I sing it to blue well…
It’s one of my very favorites.
I do not sing nearly as well as I once did and now that I am losing my hearing, it’s even harder, but this was a lot of fun and brought back a whole lot of memories which were very good ones, and so I hope that you will enjoy it.

December 26, 2025A very nice song, Pasty, you can hold a tune and that’s very important. Most people go off tune when they sing and you did not. You hit every note. Bravo
