Holy WOW! The hits just keep on rollin’ in from sponsoring member Abbie Johnson Taylor.
She’s back to talk about a program she puts on in the much beloved ACB (American Council Of The Blind) community!
Abbie’s Alcove June 2026
By Abbie Johnson Taylor
Once a month through the ACB Community, I facilitate an event on Zoom called Abbie’s Alcove, where we share memories on a variety of topics. This is similar to an activity I did when working as a registered music therapist with nursing home residents. We sang songs related to a specific topic, then reminisced on the topic.
Because of Zoom’s latency, we can’t all sing together. Instead, I come up with topics related to the month, often asking Alexa’s National Calendar skill about specific days like Ride Your Motorcycle to Work day. This month, with Father’s Day happening, we shared memories of our dads.
ACB Community programming is sponsored by the American Council of the Blind. You don’t have to be blind or a member of the organization to get involved. Every week, there are over a hundred activities from music to crafts to social calls like mine. All programs are held on Zoom, and some are broadcast in Clubhouse and on ACB Media. If you’d like to know more, email: community and ask to receive the daily schedule by email: community@acb.org
Since April, Abbie’s Alcove has been made available as a podcast. Now, I’m pleased to share this month’s episode with you. Enjoy!

June 25, 2026Thank you, Patty, for sharing this. For whatever reason, the ACB Community email address didn’t come through in the above post. So, here it is if anyone’s interested. community@acb.org I’ve scheduled a reblog to go live tomorrow, and that email address will be included there as well. Thank you again, Patty.

June 26, 2026I went and edited the post. The email is there. Had you texted me when you saw it yesterday I’d have fixed it then.
I only check email twice daily. Otherwise I get little done.

June 26, 2026Sometimes that happens.
quite a while back WP put out a notice that some email addresses may or may not show when posting. So, I forget to check that it mostly happens when emailing posts to the server. I’ll go edit the post. Never hesitate to text quickly when you see a problem and I’ll go and edit the actual post.
And you’re most welcome for the share.
