April 19, 2024 – Patty L. Fletcher reporting.

Good morning!!

I hope all are well.

Here, the coffee is hot. The weather is too. Blue is snoozing, and I bet so are some of you.

I like to get up in the quiet of the morning. I enjoy the entire process of bringing my body slowly back online after I’ve been asleep for several hours.

Even if I’ve awakened for brief periods of time to go to the bathroom, get a drink of water, or jot a piece of a dream into the journal on my phone laying by the bed, my body is still on a sort of standby mode, and I’ve learned if I give myself time to fully wake up and allow my systems to come back to life one by one, rather than leaping up and starting out at full-speed, I do better throughout the entire day.

I’ve a set routine, and if allowed to keep to that routine, even in a strange place, it sets me up for success.

I like to get a drink of water, wash my face, brush my hair and teeth, and if needed do my necessary.

If I need a shower, normally I’ll go ahead and get that done during this part of the morning. Sometimes, I’ve already had a shower, and don’t need another, so I enjoy a cup of coffee, and some personal time.

Yesterday went by in a gasp. Here’s how our morning began over at Facebook. I share this with you, because I dictated the entire thing, and it took me no longer and not much shorter a time to put it up. It was fun to use the different symbols, and smiley faces.

Here’s how it looked…

Thursday, April 18, 2024 – Facebook.

Good morning everyone.
I hope you are all well.
Here, the coffee is hot. The weather is too. Here is some loving from team blue!
🦮 💛💚🩵🤍💞
It is a beautiful day today in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Right now in Kingsport it’s 62°F with mostly cloudy skies today’s forecast has partly sunny weather with a high of 83° and a low of 54°
You got it here first straight from my echo, Ziggy says! Lol.
There is a good breeze blowing. Being on the corner of the building, I have two windows. I get Crossbreeze. In that I am blessed.
I also get sun in both windows at some point during the day. And if I open my door in a little while, I’ll get sun through it as well.
I also enjoy the swing, and sharing the yard with neighbors. It is challenging and fun. Yes, it’s both things. Because the neighbor is nice, and I can talk to her. She has moved into the other breezeway. Oh, I wish she were in mine. But that’s OK. She has a dog too and how well-behaved. I brought blue out yesterday and did not know hers was in the yard and they met up nose to nose and both behaved. I did have to get blue by the back of the neck to bring him away. Lol. But it was only because he was excited.
It was unexpected and we were not prepared. I guess she just ran in for something and left him tied there. She was back out by the time I got back from taking blue to relieve.
We didn’t have any problem.
I did text Freddy about it. I texted him mainly because I am tired of tripping over walkers and wheelchairs being left in the yard. People have them in their vehicles an extra one of what they need to get around while they are out and I understand that. But they leave the ones that they use in their houses sitting in the yard or on the sidewalk waiting for their return. It does make for interesting work. Lol. I don’t have to worry about being engaged. But there are a few times when I take blue out with him just on his leash and me using my cane and yes, I am responsible but it would be nice if people had some thought about where they left things. There are places that they could leave them where they would not be interfering and they could still be accessed easily for them. A little community cooperation would be great. oh well. You can’t have everything. I’m determined to make the best of all situations today. I have new things happening in my life. I am working on merging the new things in with the things already going on. Today my new and old overlapped in such a way that made me have to cancel my free to be me call. I did this with trepidation. I have already missed due to being sick. I hope my community family will forgive me yet again. This is an opportunity to take a webinar introductory course that I would normally have to pay for. so I am excited to have the gift of the free webinar today. I feel it is a blessing given to me. I will be back with my normal schedule starting with my hospitality call. That happens on Sunday evening at 8 PM in ACB community and I will be there. If we are fortunate and privileged, we will also have Judy our bartender, stopping by to serve a drink, whether it be a soda from the fountain a bottle of water or a Long Island tea Judy can whip it up for you.
I’ll see you guys around the community too.
In the meantime, I am sitting in my bedroom window, listening to somebody’s phone conversation as if I were in the same room or car with them. They have their speaker on and their window open and I can hear everything that both parties are saying. I’m not trying to listen. It’s just happening because somebody is not aware of their situation. Lol. So I have entertainment as well. Lord have mercy what more can a person want? Well it’s time for another cup of coffee and ACB presents. Y’all come on in and join us.

Today, Friday April 19, 2024 – Back at the desk of Patty L. Fletcher.

There are some grammar mistakes there that set my teeth on edge otherwise, it looked good.

I attend the ACB Presents the Daily Schedule call when I can. I don’t get there on most Mondays unless I call in from the pottery room. Sometimes it’s busy from the moment go until we leave, and I cannot do that.

Sometimes I take a break from everyone at the end of the week, or over the weekend and go to nothing.

On the mornings I make it there, I find it’s the best way to rev up the day. Laughter truly is a grand way to begin the day and if you don’t laugh during that call, well, in the words of one of the morning crew, “I don’t know about you.”

After that call was done, I had a few hours to get some work caught up on the blog. I shared the things people sent me onto my blog and sprinkled it round social media.

Then, I walked Blue so he would be empty and ready for a nap while I was on the Webinar call for email marketing.

I was excited because the presenter was one, I read often in writer’s magazines and on writer’s blogs.

The presenter started by sharing effective ways to find and create content. She gave examples, and as it went each one, she named is one I use.

On this went. In the second segment, she listed all the things to do to start and grow email presents. She also mentioned this could spill over onto blogging. Again, all the things I’m already doing.

Before I knew it, the class was coming to the Q&A. I’d already investigated the Q&A section and read all the conversation there. Again, nothing I wasn’t already doing. I had nothing to contribute and nothing to learn which was new.

Except for confirming I’m doing all I can do in this way of marketing; I got no new nuggets of wisdom.

Later, during Friend Kaila’s presentation on curiosity, which for some reason I had trouble finding the entrance to, I spoke up and said that I wanted to discover an outlet through which I can learn something new to boost my career.

Oh, yea! I almost forgot. I also attended a presentation on a theater which is set up so disabled persons have a pleasant experience. They provide only movies with closed and open captions, and audio description. They provide and maintain top-notch equipment, and they are all trained.

Those working are disabled as well.

That was a great presentation, and I won a bag of popcorn for participating.

This morning, I experienced a rarity. Normally it takes me a good hour, sometimes more to empty and deal with all that’s in my inbox. This morning was not the case. The mailings were so I got done in a timely manner. Blue is still snoozing, so I think I’ll catch a game of dice or cards over on RS games. Which is a site for blind and visually challenged people to go and play games.

For now, the Chief is still snoring, there is no rain forecast yet which is pouring, and all is right in our writerly world.

Lady Laya MoonWalker is a well respected author and magazine owner and a high priestess in the magickal community. After a drawn-out battle with the forces of dark magik, she has come into her own. She lives and works on Planet Korponious, where she is the owner and creator of an Interplanetary Magazine called “Blended Lives Chronicles.” Her mission is to blend the lines of race, creed, and disability that separate so many and to elevate the recognition of the training and ability of Service Animals of all kinds to a new level. She has just been accepted into the Blended Lives Federation and now hopes to continue her work in a way like nothing known to her before.

Laya has created a lot of wreckage along the way through her dark journey into the light, and now she wishes to set this to right. She has just received her best break ever. Frank Prince, the CEO of The Blended Lives Learning Center, has invited her to the Celtic New Year Convention and Witches Ball as a reporter to write a story on the progress of The Blended Lives Planetary Federation. She will be their guest speaker at the opening ceremonies

When Laya arrives at the Celtic Convention, she finds herself face to face with an old and dear friend, Blended Lives Learning Center Instructor and member of the Order of the Night, Derrick Gibbous. As they begin to connect, causing old sparks to reignite, they are tossed into a nasty battle from which not everyone will escape. People are not as they seem, and not everyone supports the side for which they appear to work.

As their love for one another grows, so does the battle. Despite everything, Laya and Derrick are determined to see their work to unite beings of all kinds succeed.

Excerpt…

Prologue

August 2060

The thought of him after all this time, still makes me half-crazy. Though my head was all twisted up for a while, the love and want I felt for him was always real and raw. It still is. I dream about what it would be like to kiss him, to have him kiss me and to feel his strong arms folding round me in a tight embrace. I can’t help it. It’s been a decade since I saw him or heard his voice, but I can still remember what he sounds like. I can still remember his scent. He never smelled like heavy men’s cologne. More like a strong, clean scent of man. That musky male scent that always drove me slightly insane. That smell of gentleness and safety. I’ll never forget the smell of him.

Late at night or during the middle of the day, like now, with the rain drumming on the roof and slapping at the windows, I imagine what having his mouth on mine would feel like. We never did that. Never kissed, even though both of us wanted it. I wanted it then and did right before we parted that day but, in the end, I chickened out.

And I suppose it was for the best.

I imagine how it would’ve been then, and I imagine how it would be now. I dream of such a day as this, with the rain and wind howling around the house, everything quiet and still. Me, sitting here at the computer working.

And suddenly, a knock sounds at the back door. Rising in annoyance at my work being interrupted, I march to the door, my slippers thumping on the floor as I go. My voice leaks out a bit of that annoyance and I ask, “Who is it?” and then, I feel my heart drop, thudding like a tumbling boulder into my stomach as his voice says, “It’s Derrick Gibbous, open in the name of The Blended Lives Federation.”

Flinging the door open, I snarl to cover my nervous thrill of his being there after all this time, “So, Casimian, I reckon they don’t have communicators where you come from?”

With a laugh he takes my face in his hands saying, “Tried to call. Your communicator keeps going to voicemail. Can’t very well call if you don’t ever answer.” Just like that, we’re back into that happy bantering rhythm.

Stepping back, I state, “Well, don’t just stand there, didn’t your momma teach you to come in out of the rain?”

Stepping through the door, shutting it behind him, he turns to me as I ask, “So, what the hell took you so long to get here? I’ve only been wishing for you for a decade. I mean, hell, I know I screwed up but —” Suddenly, without warning, he grabbed me, pulling me into his arms and crushed his mouth onto mine. Completely taking my breath away.

The rain pounded furiously onto the house, the wind howled, and the blood roared hot and pulsing in my ears. For a moment I nearly resisted and then I flung myself into him and we stood holding one another locked into a hot, fervent kiss filled with a heated passion nothing in my wildest imaginings could’ve ever prepared me for.

When we pulled apart he said, “Well, at least now I know how to shut you up.”

Normally, I’d have had a sarcastic retort, but like it or not, he was right. That kiss, that hot, wet, wonderful kiss, had left me completely undone and I could do nothing but stand there with my legs barely strong enough to hold me upright catching my breath and trying, without much success, to calm my thundering heart.

“Derrick, I’ve wanted you for so long. Needed you for so long. Even if you’re only here for an hour, I must have you. All of you. I must know. I must know what you feel like inside me.”
Suddenly a loud crash of thunder shook the house. I sat up with a jerk, popping my neck as I came up from where I’d been laying over on the table where I’d been working. Gods, only a dream. How I wish it were real.

I stood from the chair and started to stretch. I jumped as the communicator rang. “Hello?” I asked, holding the device to my ear awaiting the caller’s reply.

“Good evening, Lady Moonwalker. It’s Frank Prince. How are you today?”

“Hello, Mr. Prince. What can I do for you?” I asked with great trepidation.
