From Lynda McKinney Lambert: New post 28th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards – Judge #36 #Author’s Corner #WordPressWednesday

This year I entered my book, Walking by Inner Vision: Stories & Poems in a contest.

I sent it off and then I forgot all about it.

Today, I received the evaluation that the book received from Judge #36 – and I held my breath in anticipation of what the juror’s remarks might be. It’s always intimidating to send our work out for professional evaluation – and this was my first time to do that."

  1. What a nice thing to reblog my post about the evaluation my book received from Writer’s Digest. Thank you Patty, and thank each of you who has “liked” the post. That encourages me, you know!
I hope other writers will participate next year for one of them could be the WINNER. If my next book is finished before their deadline, I will send it off to them. This gave me an opportunity to have someone really scrutinize the book and give me their feedback on a high quality critique. I really am glad I did it because it is so encouraging to me. My stories all come directly from my life experiences which I set into historical context. This is my love, presenting ideas in a holistic way across disciplines. Thanks!

    1. Hi Lynda.

Somehow this lovely comment got lost in a folder and I’m just now unearthing it.

You’re welcome for the share. I think it is wonderful how you work to promote yourself and achieve such excellence.

I can see why this whole experience would be encouraging. Yes, more people need to enter such things. People need to learn to spread their wings and come far from their comfort zones.

All the time people say they want more readers. They want more reviews. But they’re not doing what needs doing to make these things a reality.

Good for you for working hard and going that extra mile to make it so in your writing world.

      1. I think the key is that we learn that we cannot decide to be carried along on someone else’s coat tails – to get everything they can get from someone else – and for FREE.

Nothing in life is FREE. For everything, someone had to pay something for it.

There is always a price that is paid by someone – there is no such thing as a free lunch.

We have to learn that we are in business – it is OUR business and it is up to us to run our business well.

Like any business prospect, we have to nurture it, invest in it, and share it.

We can’t expect someone else to do for us what we are not willing to do for ourselves.

Anything worthwhile is worthy of sacrifice. We have to decide what we are willing to give up in order to get where we want to be. Things happen for us the more we shake things up and the more we put ourselves out there and pay the price.

I understand that winning is normal. There is nothing noble or normal about being a loser in life.

We set the outcome by the words that come out of our mouth and by our thinking.

        1. Good morning Lynda and All.

Lynda, I love this. I’m still interested in having you do the series on what you’ve done to market your success and things that we talked about.

I hope when the new year comes we can talk about this on a very serious level.
