Friday’s Featured Author Wendy Wallace #Author’sCorner

Hello to everyone, and Happy Friday to you all.

Today, I’m pleased and privileged to introduce Christian author, Wendy Wallace.

There’s nothing I can say by way of introduction which will do this exceptional lady’s story justice so without further comment from me, I give you Wendy!

Wendy Wallace photoFirst, in your own words tell us a little about you.

I am a Christian wife and mom of three adult children and one very spoiled dog. In 2011 a nasty bout of flesh-eating bacteria left me as a quadruple amputee in order to save my life. After a small pity party where I could not figure out my place in the world, the Lord inspired me to use my experiences to reach out and help other women. I created the Christian inspiration blog called One Exceptional Life. I now teach women how to overcome their challenges, regardless of what they are, by using the same tools that I used to move on and create a happy, independent life. Those tools are faith and prayer, gratitude, kindness and positivity.

Where do you live?

New Hampshire, USA

Who are the special people in your life?

My husband Mike, is the love of my life. We have been married 30 years. We have three adult children. Michael and Megan are living in North Dakota, while Mike is studying to be a commercial pilot. Matthew our youngest, is married to his beautiful bride Samantha, and they live in Missouri. How they all came to live so far apart is a story for another time. My favorite moments are when we spend time together, even if it has to be through technology. I am thankful that we have those options available to us today.

Do you have any pets?

You could call her our pet, but Ruby is basically our fourth child. She is more spoiled than all of our other children put together. She is a lab/hound mix who came into our lives to keep me company as I was recovering from my amputations. Not only has she kept me company, she has become a priceless and dearly loved family member.

What keeps you going? I mean, like what inspires you and keeps you moving forward in your work?

I have never considered myself to be a writer. But blogging, learning everything that goes into running a blog and building it into a business, has been a tremendous joy in my life. My fuel comes from serving the Lord, witnessing for Him and helping other women to overcome their challenges and find joy and gratitude in their lives has been my calling.

What is your favorite song?

The song, “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts.  It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, because the lyrics are such a great reminder of how I met my husband.

What is your favorite movie? Feel free to list multiple titles.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory – because I LOVE chocolate

Dirty Dancing – because it’s a sweet love story with one of the favorite hobbies of my youth, dancing

Mamma Mia – because it’s got lots of singing and ABBA music

What is your favorite book? Feel free to list multiple titles.

Obviously the Bible – because it’s God’s instruction manual for living. Other than that, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a favorite book

What is your favorite food?

Ice Cream – any kind, however my current favorite snack is the double caramel Magnum bar.

M&M’s-plain

Any kind of sweet

Regular food?  I would say sausage and mushroom pizza, and plain ol’ spaghetti noodles with butter and Parmesan cheese.  You wouldn’t think so because of my sugar addiction, but I consider myself to be a foodie who is willing to try anything. My favorite hobby before I lost my hands, was cooking.  That is the biggest regret that I have now. Because although I have tried, I cannot find a way to be successful as a cook in the kitchen.

What is your favorite quote?

It’s actually a scripture. Proverbs 3: 5 – 6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”  This verse is my go-to anytime I am scared or uncertain and need some guidance from the Lord.  It brings me peace every single time.

What is your favorite affirmation?

I am not big on affirmations. But if I need something, it will be the verse in Proverbs.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is people who do not return their shopping carts at the grocery store. I don’t have hands and feet, but I always make sure my cart is put in the right place when I’m done with it. And it burns me when completely able people refuse to do something so simple.

What do you think your best strengths are, and how do they help you in your work as a writer?

I am one of those people who tends to look for the silver lining in every dark cloud. I am great at encouragement and helping people to see the bright side when they are feeling down. This helps me as a writer because my goal is always inspiration. My goal is to take people from a place of sadness or discouragement, to a place of courage and hope.

What are your weaknesses, and how are you making them stronger?

One of my weaknesses is the fact that I am so emotional. It’s hard for me to share my story without tears. When someone is hurting I get emotionally attached. And I take it personally when someone is hurt by the actions of others. Although I think these are weaknesses, I know that the Lord uses them to guide me in helping others.  I can strengthen any of my weaknesses by immersing myself in the Word of God and growing my faith.

What is your dream for the future, and how does it relate to your work as a writer?

My dream is to stand strong for the Lord and be a good witness, especially in the face of such troubling and fearful times. As long as we can retain our freedom of speech, I can share His truths, inspire others, and be a great witness and example of faith, courage, strength and hope. When I can no longer do that online, I will continue to encourage those around me.

What is your preferred way of communicating, and how can someone reach you if they wish to buy from or work with you in some way?

The best way to reach me is through email wendy@oneexceptionallife.com my blog www.OneExceptionalLife.com  or Facebook www.facebook.com/oneexceptionallife

Before you go, is there anything you’d like to add about yourself, or your work that I’ve not asked?
