During the Thunderstorm 2011 to 2026 Bubba Blue and More

I don’t have correct words to describe how happy and filled with joy I am on this day. In no way can I convey it to you. It’s one of those sorts of things one must experience for him or herself. It is a, an, individual metamorphosis of sorts, really there’s no other word which comes to mind.

Thus, the title “How a Seeing Eye Dog Retrieved My Life.” Had little to do with the type of dog.

People got that after reading the book.

Every moment I had with Campbell was a joy I cannot even describe with any familiarity. The whole event was too extraordinary.

Every experience we went through together exposed us to new people places and things.

I wrote books with Campbell. Bared my soul and told my tale.

Still after people read, they keep in contact and continue to walk alongside me every day.

Campbell left too soon, but then again, maybe it was perfect, because things for me had changed, and were about to change again and some of those changes would’ve been disagreeable to him.

Then, along came Chief Seeing Eye® Dog Blue, and yes, he had the name before we graduated from school.

Blue investigates everything, even the traffic on the street corners and makes very informed and in-depth decisions.

A focused boy is my Blue.

At the same time, he’s sly as a fox. He’s got a game going on in his head and out of the corner of his eye and one nostril. He’s the smartest, yet goofiest dog on planet and I am super blessed to have him.

When I was sick this past winter, he went to live with a family connected to The Seeing Eye and was cared for in the best possible way. He was tended to by a trainer and others who knew exactly what he needed and he came back to me as if he’d not left.

He was a bit overwhelmed his first full morning waking at home. He laid on the bed for a moment just a little perplex. I held and loved him and let him miss his little boy and then asked if he wanted to go see the ducks and geese. I explained they’d begun thinking they could set up house near-by where he went to park and we might should see about his reclaiming his space. My tone of voice and the suggestion of a sniff fest outside did the trick and soon he was off for the day.

I do not want to make light of that. I can’t imagine how they felt the first morning without Blue. My heart goes out to them.

The first morning I woke up after Blue left, I got up, made a cup of coffee, went to pee, wash my face, and promptly got back into bed.

I cried into my cup and held my stuffies and felt like the biggest nothing on earth.

But now here we are all the better for it and again I say no matter what I’ve stepped up into another level of life.

Life is fun!

Enjoy it!
