The video was taken in 2017 while I was in the nursing therapy facility recovering from illness.
Each evening after the physical therapy patients had all gone back to their rooms the staff and I would turn Campbell loose in the therapy room and play with him.
It was very good for him because he had to be couped up in my room during the day, only getting outside for relief times or when assisting me with my therapy.
He had a lot of energy then and so the therapy staff decided he needed what we called, âCampbellâs Therapy.â
A funny thing happened one day during one of his play times. The door to the therapy room wasnât closed all the way, and the ball he was chasing went out into the hall and into someoneâs room.
Before we could stop him, Campbell made a mad dash out the door for the ball, but when he followed it into the room he became side-tracked by the man in there. When the therapy guy went to see why Campbell hadnât returned, he found him visiting with the patient in that room.
After that every evening after Campbellâs therapy time we would walk round and visit anyone who wanted some doggy time.
The therapists liked and encouraged this because it helped me build my strength and it was very good for the patients too.
Of course Campbell enjoyed it a lot.

We all are the Light, automatically. So we really don’t have to go too much further than that. We all have a Light within us – it is the Soul; it is that spark of God, of the Divine, that activates our consciousness.
The facility I was at had just lost its therapy dog.
Before I came there had been a therapy dog who had given residents much joy.
If memory serves me right, I believe they said it was either a Golden Retriever or a Yellow Lab. Either way, the lady who owned her and worked there with the patients, had just left there for another job and so the residents were in need of a dog fix.
Iâd always hoped to go back and do some volunteer work there but soon after I left there, I developed some other issues and was sidelined again.
By the time I got back on my feet, things had changed there somewhat and I was never able to get a paw back in the door.
Campbell did several different types of work over his many years with me.
We went to an elementary school here in the area for quite a while, where Campbell would lay in the middle of a group of âspecial needsâ children and get petted while the kids took turn reading.
King Campbellâs rule was, âLong as youâre reading, you can pet. If you stop reading, or donât want to read at all, hands off.â
We had no trouble getting the kids to read.
When I was volunteer coordinator of Contact Concern, Campbell was our âGoodwill Ambassadorâ He accompanied me to luncheons, health fairs, fundraisers and presentations.
He was quite good at âRetrievingâ donations.
We had a lot of fun during our time together and he has left a huge hole in my life.

October 25, 2020Patty, because I have some vision, I was able to see this video on my phone. Campbell looks like such a sweet dog.
When was this video taken, and who was with you? What a loving tribute! Rest in peace, dear Bubba.
