Lots of people ask me what I do when I’m not writing books or assisting with the marketing of others. I tell them, sometimes I binge watch Law and Order on Spectrum Livestream, sometimes I take a fit and watch two or three seasons of Bosch on Amazon Video Prime, and sometimes I spend a few hours listening to podcasts. But mostly when I’m not working, I like to read. In fact, most times you can find me with a book to hand. I read when I’m eating, cleaning, showering, waiting for the bus or at the doctor’s office sitting in the waiting room. Whenever possible I like to have a bottle of wine close by. Well, no, not in the doctor’s office waiting room. Although? Hmmm?
Well, I digress.
For me, the end of November and beginning of December have been quite stressful and so I’ve been in need of some exceptionally delicious brain candy.
Here are two of the books I’ve read this week. First, Squeeze Me…
From the National Library Services for the Blind and Print Disabled website…
Hiaasen, Carl. Reading time: 11 hours, 11 minutes.
Read by Scott Brick.
Suspense Fiction
Political Fiction
Bestsellers

My Thoughts…
This book was laugh out loud great. Not just in spots but all the way through from the first page to the last. Yes, it was suspenseful and most definitely kept me reading to see what would happen next.
Would I have picked this book on my own had I not been reading it for Worlds of books, brought to you by Accessible World? Probably not. Am I glad I read it? Absolutely, and I highly recommend it for anyone who wishes to be happily entertained. I read this book quite literally in less than 24 hours and one day, when I’m feeling blue, I may read it again just for grins.
Another book I’ve just finished is, Stars of Fortune by Nora Roberts…
Again, from the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled website…
Roberts, Nora. Reading time: 11 hours, 26 minutes.
Read by Carol Jacobanis. A production of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress.
Romance
After months of troubling dreams, artist Sasha Riggs heads to the island of Corfu, finding it exactly as she dreamed and drew it. She meets five people who appeared in her dreams, realizing they all have a quest to fulfill. Some strong language and some explicit descriptions of sex. Bestseller. 2015.

My Thoughts…
This book is another which captivated me from the first page to the last. While not nearly as much hilarity as in Squeeze me, the mix of mystery, romance and suspense was Most excellent in creating a much-needed distraction for me at the end of a busy workday.
There was laughter, there were tears. There was mystery and there were fears.
There was magic, and there was love. And yes, there were Gods, Goddesses and creatures from below and above.
The descriptions of Sasha’s paintings were exquisite, and her love of art was akin to my love of writing. But that’s not all she and I had in common. No, not at all.
I could relate to her trying to fit into the “Normal Life” and never quite measuring up to the expectations of family or friends. Could relate to her decision to create a solitary existence in which she gave herself to her work and had little room for anything more and I longed for the satisfaction she felt when finding people who understood and accepted who and what she was.
I’ve just finished this first book in the trilogy and am getting ready to download and begin the second as soon as I hit send on this posting.
Do I recommend this book? Absolutely. But not if you aren’t willing to open yourself to the possibilities of things not quite accepted or understood by the “Normal World”.
I believe to enjoy a book such as this, one must be willing to believe in things such as falling in love at first sight, and in passion hot, reckless and daring. You must be willing to open your mind to things of other worldliness, and in the possibility that those things believed mythical could be real.
If you’re willing to open your mind, heart, and spirit and allow your imagination to sore you will love this book. If, however, you must have everything explained beyond the shadow of a doubt and be safe, snug and secure with feet firmly planted on the ground, this book might not be for you.
Well, that’s it for me as far as my reading over the past few days and the weekend goes. What about you? What great reads are you enjoying?
Please do let us know in reply to this post.
Until next time, this is Patty saying…
Happy reading and when you’re through be sure to write a review.
May Harmony find You, and Blessid Be.
