Blind People Can Use Facebook

Blind People Can Use Facebook

I have been reading a lot of quack from people who are saying Facebook is no longer accessible for blind persons and their screen readers, and I am here to state quite clearly that is not true.

Yes, Facebook has changed a few things but there are a couple of great options for us now, and I am tired of people who don’t even use the platform spreading falsehoods.

Over the next month I will be holding a call to show people just how absolutely wrong they are.

It’s not inaccessible. It’s just a lack of knowledge.

Please stay tuned to this space for more.

In the meantime, unless you have a valid complaint, if you’re not even on the platform stop making the rest of us blind people who use the platform daily look stupid.

so you would have us ignore legitimate in accessibility issues?
We know it’s usable, people have been complaining about accessibility issues on all sorts of platforms.
The NFB is supposedly in talks with Facebook addressing these issues.
So let’s not have an apples and oranges. Discussion.
obviously, there are some blind people who don’t understand, but as a user of the platform, I have no qualms holding their feet to the fire like anyone else with accessibility.

    1. I’m here to tell you that I find the version of the microsoft for windows PC app 98 percent accessible and I can teach it I use it every day all day long and people pay me to promote them both sighted and blind.
      That’s what I’m telling you.

I think it would’ve been a lot easier if you had just mentioned that from the beginning.
I’m not omniscient nor am my mind reader.
I find that if I put four solutions, it’s more positive.
I plead ignorance, I very rarely use my computer for Facebook, so I was not aware of this, but I will look into it.

  2. Hi, I sent the information to Mr. Branco who published the article in question and he ignored my comment and did not send it out.

well, that explains everything, he’s very resistant to change, and is stuck in his ways.
He doesn’t pass on information, he edits to what his feelings and desires are.
I am happy to learn new things all the time and not throw in the towel like many have.
Again, thanks for passing that about the App Store, I overlooked it, because most of my stuff I do on my phone.

      1. If you’re doing it on your phone, other than the fact that the post button does not always read in the app, what trouble are you having with FB.

The post button was fine, many people had issues while editing post using VoiceOver, voiceover was not properly giving feedback, so editing was very difficult.
The problem has since been resolved.
Just because not everyone has specific issues doesn’t mean the issues do not exist.
I am glad that it has been rectified.
I find the phone probably the most accessible way of using Facebook.
