Blanket of Love

By Trish Hubschman

There’s a blanket on the back of my sofa.

It’s been there for years,

And will always be.

I put it Over me when I’m cold.

It keeps me warm.

I use it when I take a nap.

I feel safe, cozy, and confident.

It might be stretched.

It might be soiled.

But that blanket will always be with me.

A beautiful Afghan.

Mom made it for me,

For us.

It is a gift,

A most incredible one.

It is from her own hand.

She knitted it.

It’s from her heart.

It’s the blanket of love.

My Love

By Trish Hubschman

My number one

A lucky find you were

Have I been a good wife to you?

Do you know what you mean to me?

You are my everything.

My only love.

Living in Outer Space

By Trish Hubschman

Moon, Mars, or Mercury,

Which one will it be,

Fore my new home?

Mars is cold.

Coats and mittens are a must there.

Mercury is hot.

Bathing suits and shorts are the style.

Moon might be hot too.

I don’t know.

Dilemma. Dilemma.

What about civilization,

Do they have such?

Not like on Earth,

Too crowded here.

Need to escape.

Need to feel free and be me.

But where to go,

Which planet is best.

I don’t know.

Dilemma. Dilemma.

Are there paved roads?

How will I get around?

Are there Wal-marts?

Cell phone towers and internet too?

Indoor air condition on Mercury,

A hot tub on Mars.

This is a major decision

Which planet do I want to go to.

I don’t know.

Dilemma. Dilemma.

Gayle’s Tales is a collection of Tracy Gayle mystery short stories.

Everyone’s favorite couple, Tracy and Danny, are still going strong, romantically and professionally, rocking and rolling and solving crimes.

Tracy has to locate missing persons who vanished decades earlier.

She gets tangled in murder investigations she hadn’t anticipated.

She digs into a coal mining town that’s been uninhabited for 40 years and discovers secrets and skeletons.

In the end, she brings long–lost family members and friends back into each other’s arms and lives.

Through all this, she and Danny are planning their wedding extravaganza at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Tracy narrates her own adventures in these tales, as she does in the books.

  2. A magnificent and beautiful poem.

  3. Hi Trish. I’m so sorry it’s taken me forever to get back here. I logged off yesterday during the power and internet outages and due to all that confusion and then another storm coming right behind I never got back.
But via way of my phone I shared the poem over social media. It’s one of my favorites from you.
Blessid be to your mother, and blessid be to your blanket.
