Good morning to you all and Happy Monday-Moon Day.
I tell you since I got my new computer last month the goodness has been rolling in at top-speed.
Since the last week of April, I’ve gotten signed up for affordable internet services, gotten my utility bills paid in full, my dad built me a desk/table, and I had a magnificently successful Facebook event.
Today, my dad and I are going to go down to our cable company and pick up my internet router and modem. I’d signed up for internet last week, and the customer representative told me at that time that the router and modem would be shipped to me in one to three business days. When it didn’t come after three days I got concerned and called back in. Honestly, I thought I still had a delinquent account with them and that was the reason for the delay.
When I called in, I was told someone would call me back after they had a chance to check my current account and my older account. I waited a day, and no one called back, so yesterday evening I called back in and someone was available to speak with me. The lady I spoke to was very polite and quite knowledgeable. She took her time and read through my entire record and she discovered that I no longer carried a previous balance because I’d turned in all my old equipment and that had cleared the remainder of the balance owed on that old account. She removed it from delinquent status to cleared, and then began looking at my current account. After reading through the entire transcript of my call into their customer services sales center last week she determined that since I was on a self-service status, meaning that I would install the router and modem on my own due to their not currently providing tech installation services that my router and modem would be delayed seven to ten days because they had a backlog of orders and reduced staff in the warehouses.
I asked her if our local office was open and if I could go there and pick up the equipment, she checked, and sure enough the office is open, and I can go and pick it up.
After I got off the phone, I sat at my table drumming my fingers wondering how I’d get to that office since it is located out of the transit’s trip area.
Continuing to think about it, I began scrolling through notifications on my phone, and found I’d missed a text from dad who had texted to see how the new table was working out and to ask if I’d ever gotten my internet equipment.
Deciding to answer him I said, “Hey Siri, reply to Dad.”
Siri asked, “What do you want to say?”
I said, “Hi Dad. Table is working out beautifully. I love it. Thanks. BTW? I talked with Spectrum and they said due to backlog of orders, my router and modem won’t be shipped for seven to ten days.”
When I finished speaking Siri reread what I’d said, and for a wonder, I found it to be accurate. After it had finished reading Siri asked, “Ready to send it?”
I answered, “Yes.” And Siri said, “It’s sent.”
I began to read email and a few minutes later my text alert sounded, and I said, “Hey Siri, read messages.”
Siri read, “Dad said, “We can go pick it up.”
I was kind of surprised and quickly texted back, “WOW! Thanks.”
A few minutes later dad texted back, “Probably in the A.M. Supposed to rain tonight so I can’t mow till afternoon.”
Laughing to myself about how I’d been saved by the rain I texted back, “Whatever is convenient for you is fine with me.”
Once my internet is set up, I’m going to finish putting together the Writer’s Grapevine and send it on over to Claire to format and post.
Then the rest of this week will be devoted to finishing the first draft of my manuscript. I have chapter 26, the Afterword, and brief acknowledgments and it will be ready for me to read through and tighten up. Then, that will go off to the proofreader, and hopefully be published soon.
I attribute all this good fortune to, a lot of great people who helped me get a new computer, and a lot of hard work.
I’m making a lot of neat plans for the future of my business and my writing and though I know I’ve my work cut out for me, I also know this turn of luck is only the beginning of the fabulous things ahead.
So, what’s on your agenda for the month of May?
