I posted the following onto Facebook earlier today.
The fire referenced in the writing was a fire at a previous college campus.
Good morning, everyone. I hope you’re doing well.
Here I’ve been playing with my new, RAY-BAN META SMART GLASSES I received from a very generous secret Santa.
Blue and I went for a short walk, asking it to give me a play by play of what I was passing, and what was coming up.
I was able to watch the firetrucks working back and forth as they carried more water to the fire I posted about this morning.
Blue and I also had fun making our way through the lobby. Because I could get it to tell me where the people it was telling me of were positioned, Blue and I wove through better than ever.
I was able to give him better directions in that big open space, and working him in conjunction with this, I cannot put into words how that felt.
I will never trust an AI or even a sighted volunteer over my dog unless there is something terribly awry.
I’m just saying with my spatial disorientation issues, this is a game changer.
I’m not quite as coordinated with them as I’d like to be so I will not be going too far from the nest until I am. I will for sure have them as part of the things I carry with me each day.
Being able to flip from one thing to another with just a few words has made the difference in how i operate in the kitchen.
I can read exact instructions, tap controls and settings and I’m just having a ball.
I also can tell you there are things once known that cannot then be unknown.
For example, when I took Blue to relieve at 9 last evening, I asked it for visual descriptions of the area we were in.
Even though I knew the area well, this thing’s descriptions had my imagination running.
First it told me I was walking down a dimly lit walkway passing cars in the parking lot on my left. It then proceeded to say the area was without any other people.
As we went into the relief area it told me “The area is grassy, with water and trees along with buildings and streetlights in the distance.
When I turned around to let Blue do his thing when prompted the glasses said, you appear to be standing in a darkened area next to a building. When Blue went round me looking for a place to relieve it said, “There appears to be a shadow of a dog whirling around you.” (CREEP FACTOR 100000) It seemed to me I was in an empty corridor, so I asked if there were any people visible it said, there are no people in the area.
As we went back up to the front, I again asked it for a visual.
I wish I had not.
It said, you appear to be walking down a long, empty walkway. There is an old building, maybe an apartment building or hotel to your left. A parking lot is to your right. There are no other people visible. (CREEP FACTOR 10000000000)
I found myself glad not to need a shower.
The kicker for me was when I came upon the automatic doors.
It said, “You are walking through an automatic door, leading either into a medical facility or care center. There is no one visible in the entryway.
“The Stand”
I, however, loved walking up to the elevator. Blue is already nearly 100 percent accurate getting to the buttons, so I don’t worry about that. What I like is finding out where people are, so we don’t get in their way or walk in front of them to go on the elevator.
Since people either A act a fool when they see me, or B aren’t sure what to do so they do and say nothing the glasses’ descriptions are very much appreciated.
The last thing I’ll leave you with is the Christmas decorations downstairs. They’re magnificent and I’ll get pics later.
See y’all.
Have a very Merry Christmas.
