A Terrifying Tale and a Show and Tell Announcement #Author’sCorner #NewsNuggets #PoetryPlace

I went to bed at just after midnight. I’d hoped to sleep in this morning, get up around 8 or so, enjoy a relaxing morning with coffee and catching up on emails and notifications I was behind on and then get to the business of readying myself for the release of my latest book. Yes, you read correctly, I’ve a new book coming out soon.

But wait, let’s talk about that in a moment. First, I want to tell you a terrifying tale.

So, this morning when I woke, I saw it was straight up and down 5 A.M. I turned over. I tried to go back to sleep. “Go to sleep! Body!” I commanded but to no avail. Finally, after doing the Pillow Dance for a while, I flung back the covers, rose to my feet and stomped into the living room with every intention of getting into my nest on the loveseat to go back to sleep.

I made one mistake. I grabbed my phone off the table by my chair as I stormed past, My snuggy trailing in my wake.

I curled up into the covers, arranged the cushions around me making a cocoon which was safe, snug and warm. “I’ll just play my email. Just answer a few via my dictation before I drift off.”

Humph! An hour later I’d read tons of neat articles and blog posts. Had even reblogged a few. I was feeling comfy and satisfied but I knew this wouldn’t do, for me there was no more sleep.

I got up. I made coffee, and then… My great morning was invaded by gremlins from the dark side.

“Can someone tell me. Just where do they hide?”

I sat down with my coffee. I sent a few texts. All was going well, until…

I turned on my computer. Prepared to journal a bit. Then suddenly…

My computer froze. JAWS wouldn’t speak. Windows Narrator would say nothing. “What to do?” I asked with a squeak.

I did a restart. I thought all would be well, but then…

Nothing happened. No music played, no spoken word. Not one sound, not even from the computer fan’s whir.

I pressed the power button. I got no result. “My computer’s dead!” I cried with a jolt!

“This can’t be happening!” I decreed to the air! “I’ve a new book coming out and a Writer’s Grapevine Holiday Extravaganza Edition to prepare.”

I ran to my phone quick as a flash! I scrolled through my receipt folder, back to April I made a mad dash!

“Oh! Praise Be! The order info is here!” I rubbed my face, washing away every tear.

“All I must do, is call Amazon. They can help me reach the right people, to see what is wrong.”

I found the number, I called right away. “Oh, please let them help me.” I prayed.

Soon a kind helpful lady came on the line and just like that, all the needed info was mine!

I thanked her profusely! So grateful was I.

Again, I washed my face, because with joy I did cry!

“That’s Great!” You think. And yes, you’d be right. But wait, there’s more to this tale of good and plight.

Before sitting down to make my calls for the day, I knelt by the computer I thought a good idea to pray. Then I decided, the computer should go, over to the table so nothing more wrong could go.

My hands slid round it with loving care, then I became aware of a warmth on the computer that before hadn’t been there.

Gently I sat it down. Whispering another prayer. I pressed and held down the power button. I counted to 30. With this I took great care.

Then, “Oh! Great Goddess! What was that noise!” I released the button. I felt I had no choice. ‘Click! Click! Whir, and Click’

“How will this end?” And just like that, my computer it was working again.

The music did play. The voice it did speak. I sank to the floor, for my knees they were weak.

I sent up a prayer. A prayer of great thanks, and then I saved the warranty info, just in case.

This ends my terrifying tale but wait! There’s something more you must know. But I think rather than telling, to you I will show!

TEASERS…

1. Drew, unable to come to my aide, commanded urgently, “Patty! Turn your body to the right, right now! And go with your dog!”

My fear of heights nearly overtook me. I knew the stairs were possibly as much as twenty-five feet off the ground. Neither Campbell nor I were the least bit happy about our situation, but I tossed my terror aside and turned myself around, so my back was to the stairs. Thunder rumbled in the distance. The wind blew hard, shaking the metal platform beneath us. Campbell shivered with fright, and panic bubbled inside me…

  1. Oh dear, Patty, what a stressful experience. I am glad you were able to resolve it.

    1. Hi Robbie.

First, as always thanks so much for reading my posts and for commenting on them.

Yes, it was stressful. I pride myself in the fact that I didn’t go completely nutty when it would not come on. But at the same time, all I could think was, “how on earth am I going to get done all I need to do before the holidays?” This is my busiest time of year.

      Phew!

      Food For Thought

We all are the Light, automatically. So we really don’t have to go too much further than that. We all have a Light within us – it is the Soul; it is that spark of God, of the Divine, that activates our consciousness.

      1. I can relate entirely, Patty. My life is in my computer.

        1. Hi.

Let’s hope nothing goes wrong during the next couple of weeks. I’m doing a book release event and looks like one of my team is already down and don’t know how long.
