Perfection Falls, Iowa is the home of the memorable characters in a cozy mystery series I love, Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries which contains eleven books so far and a prequel with ten in audio on Audible so far. If you enjoy learning about the culture and cuisine of life lived in travel trailers visiting state parks and their area attractions this is a true to life enjoyable must read.
Frannie is a retired history teacher as is the author, Karen Musser Nortman, and Frannie’s husband Larry is the retired smalltown chief of the Perfection Falls Police Department, a man of dry humor, his sister Jane Ann, a retired nurse, is married to Mickey Ferraro, the comic relief of the group and the Shoemakers have an old yellow lab named Cuba, whom Larry says can’t read very well and must be Dyslexic because she pulled him toward the Exit, One Way, Do Not Enter sign on a trail in book ten, Mask of Death, during the COVID pandemic.
Of course, being a mystery writer, when the DNR truck came around I immediately thought of the phrase Do Not Resuscitate, but it is an acronym for Department of Natural Resources.
