A Satisfactory Life #Six-Sentence Thursday

My Corner

“Don’t you want somebody to love?” Jefferson Airplane sings, as I exercise in the YMCA swimming pool. No, my life is moving along at a pretty good clip as it is. I’ve published five books with a sixth on the way, and I have a successful blog. Having somebody to love would only complicate things. Of course, I didn’t feel that way fifteen years ago when I married my late husband Bill. You can read our story in My Ideal Partner: How I Met, Married, and Cared for the Man I Loved Despite Debilitating Odds.

Thanks to Girlie on the Edge’s six-sentence story blog hop for inspiring the above. If you’d like to try this, write a story or poem of no more and no less than six sentences, using this week’s prompt word, “clip,” at least once. Then, click here to learn how to participate.

      You’re welcome Abbie.

I think differently about this topic.

While I’m not necessarily wanting to be married, or maybe not even in a committed relationship, I think that having someone to love in some way is quite important.

Don’t put loving someone in a box.

While the song itself might speak of “Somebody to love” you can love people in all kinds of way, and having someone to be close to doesn’t have to complicate things.

      Food For Thought

We all are the Light, automatically. So we really don’t have to go too much further than that. We all have a Light within us – it is the Soul; it is that spark of God, of the Divine, that activates our consciousness.

      • I agree that having someone to love is important. I love my brother in Florida. That’s different from loving someone in a relationship. Thank you for reading and commenting.

        Hi.

        It is.

I think we can have companions whether male or female that we can love in intimate ways, I think that being intimate can be done in many ways other than the traditional ones everyone automatically thinks of when thinking of a song like this one.

However, I think in very broad terms and lots don’t.

        So that’s just me.

      • Patty, I am glad that despite your negative experiences with relationships, you still have an open mind about them. Thank you again for your ideas.

        Hi Abbie.

You’re welcome. Yes, of course I have an open and positive mind about love and the various ways to have it.

I learned a long time ago, don’t let your past hold your present and future prisoner. In the end, if you do, the only person who’s hurting is you.

        Have a good day.
