Bright October
Red, yellow, orange
ornament blue skies above
hillsides pillowed in
October’s last fling before
November’s brown sets in
And rustles into falling.
Swish, goes the rake
Piling up fallen leaves.
Children jump gleefully,
scattering them hither
and thither to the
gardener’s consternation.
The wind blows chill,
Then warm as the sun’s rays
Slowly, softly, warm
the last chrysanthemums
clinging to life as the last
bees gather in their gift.
We are given this reprise
before winter’s onset.
October is our gift,
a harvest of loveliness,
to be gathered in to
tide us through the bleak.

Food For Thought
We all are the Light, automatically. So we really don’t have to go too much further than that. We all have a Light within us – it is the Soul; it is that spark of God, of the Divine, that activates our consciousness.
